Hi,Just something that's had my head sideways for quite some time... Why oh why, are 8 and 9 not used in SQ Codes???Yeah, this is perhaps off topic, but I'm interested -g-Thanks,

Chris: That is a good guess... there's not 8 or 9 digit in the squawk codes... originally known as IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) used by the military when it was just a two digit code, using octal codes (base 8 number system); hence, only digits 0-7 are used.
