FPS gain from compressing FS folder?

I have heard tell that compressing one's FS folder may result in an improvement in performance.Can I please get an indication of how successful this technique is? I currently get adequate-but-not-quite-fluid FPS in the 744 VC and would like to get any improvement possible. Cheers!

I have found it does neither hurt nor help with frame rates. It sure does save alot of disk space if you need it so I say go for it if you need the space.
