The data field you refer to is only a minor adjustment available to the pilot; the electronic engine control already knows the ambient conditions. The adjustment is too permit compensating for runway conditions before you get to the runway.Higher temps mean higher density altitude which means less power available, longer takeoff roll, more runway.
