737 empty center tank. what to do ?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I presume this is a simple question, but I don't know the correct answer. When flying my PMDG-737/700 I normally take off with wing tanks full and a variable amount of fuel in the center tank. The center tank fuel is first burned and when it comes to an end I get I warning light in my panel: "fuel"When that happens I open the overhead panel and just switch off the center tank fuel valves. Is this a correct procedure ?Thanks in advance. Jose Luis

As far as the sim goes, then yes.For real-world accuracy you should turn off the centre pumps when there is approx 1,000 lbs remaining in the centre tank.Peter

Hi,That is the correct procedure. As far as I know, the 1000 lbs/ 500 kg, that has to remain in the CTR tank is not really current anymore. Maybe for some operators it still is the rule. I'm not sure but I thought it had to do something with the fuelpumps. For some operators it is allowed again to (almost) empty your CTR tank, as the problem has been fixed. Normally about 50 kgs / 100 lbs is left in the tank.Hope this helps.Kind Regards,Bj
