PMDG 747 to South Africa? (FMC problems)

Featured Replies

Hi all,Having big problems flying the queen to/from South Africa. I get error messages in the FMC saying "anvox/imsok unknown". There are also no runways/SID/STARS shown. Help all! Or it just me?TIABilal

The FMC loads the procedures (SIDSTARS) as soon as you enter the ICAO code for departure and arrival. You will get a message if there is an error in the procedures just as you report. The processing of the procedures stops on error and the procedures are unusable, which is why there are apparently no runways/procedures.You didn't mention location (other than country), or where you got the procedures. My guess is the file(s) have errors but you almost gave enough information.

Dan,The SID/STARS I was using were from the navdata.at site originally, but then I got the South Africa SID/STAR package from avsim.com by "Hannes Meyer". Either way, no FAJS!How are you coping with FAJS and what do you use?Bilal

I am still using cycle 0610 from planepath.com, but it doesn't have a FAJS procedure.I recommend you create one. Get the excellent tutorial by Terry Yinglang at his website (http://planepath.com/html/pmdg_utilities.html)It may seem overwhelming at first, but it isn't. You can compare existing procedures with the tutorial to get a feel for their relatively simple construction, then you need to gather information for the location you want to develop. Charts and locations of fixes (either lat/lon or bearing/dist from a lat/lon) are essential. Go for it!
