744 Sound and Load Manager Questions

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,First regarding the sound, are you completely unable to hear the engines start from the flight deck on the real aircraft? I mean it just sounds a little to quiet during start up but if you really can't hear it, then I can live with it. Also, when you retract or extend the gear, can you not hear that as well? About the Load Manager though, I've taken to copying the ZFW and entering that into the FMC instead of confirming the Gross Weight. The only catch is that it ends up adding about 2 tonnes to my calculated weight in the FMC. How is this possible if I copied the numbers straight from the Load Manager?Ryan GamurotLucky to live Hawai'ihttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg

Having sat in the upper deck cabin on several flights, there just isn't that much in the way of engine noises that come through. Especially at startup. And the cockpit is further forward. There is a lot of wind noise. And I would imagine that the cockpit crew hears more of that than I did, plus all the other noises of equipment cooling fans, etc...

Hello Ryan,You should be able to hear the engine start for the GE and PW engines in the cockpit, aswell as the nose gear sound.Have a look at this article about recommended sound levels for the 747-400 and -400F.http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/Sound...ommended_LevelsArmen L CholakianSound Engineerhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/devteam.jpg

No wonder I couldn't hear the start sounds. I only use the RR variant. I never hear the nose gear though. I thought my sound levels were at those settings but I'll check.Anyone have any thoughts on my Load Manager mystery?Ryan GamurotLucky to live Hawai'ihttp://www.virtualpilots.org/signatures/vpa296.png
