June 26, 200718 yr Has anyone tried using FS2004 and PMDG stuff on an external hard drive please ? This would enable me to use the products when I'm away from home on my laptop. I'm wondering if there is a performance hit by going 'external'.
June 26, 200718 yr That is a good question.I will try it tonight. My guess is that the NG will work fine but the Queen will not work at all (I am afraid it needs a particular registration if you want it to run in a different hard disk).Jose Luis. signed: José Luis
June 28, 200718 yr There also may be an impact on performance due to the fact that all the information now has to be transferred from the external drive. Ryan GamurotLucky to live Hawai'ihttp://www.virtualpilots.org/signatures/vpa296.png Ryan Gamurot
June 28, 200718 yr Ryan,I thought there might be a delay with the initial loading up but I wondered if as you fly, the scenery loading time is affected by external drive.
June 28, 200718 yr Well, I have tested it.I have a backup copy of my "Flight Simulator 9" folder in a Fujitsu (Handy 40-AT) external hard disk and I have launched the simulator from there. The loading time resulted a bit longer than normal, but both the 737 and the 747 have worked fine !. However, in outside views I have experienced a noticeable loss of FPS. Jose Luis. signed: José Luis
