MD-11,could the development time been better used?

If I am going to spend the time to learn the system and fly airliners..I want the biggest one as possible. I prefer the 4 engine 747 to anything. I do not fly the 737 anymore. If I want to fly short haul, I prefer the CRJ or the ATRs/:)Manny
