SIDSTARS for Los Angeles Intl (KLAX)

Featured Replies

This is an update to the procedures included in the Cycle 0709 Collection. Based on FAA NACO Digital Aeronautical Information and Terminal Procedures Publications. I have smoothed the arrivals by adjusting the crossing altitudes within the charted constraints, which is described in the readme file. Minor tweaks to departures to ensure they're realistic with the 744.As a note, I spent more time revising this location than I normally spend on any several places. I developed a spreadsheet that projected descent rates and slopes based on distance and TAS (calculated from IAS) for each fix in the procedure and used it as a tool to provide as much of a constant descent (angle) into LAX as permitted by the STAR's constraints. The intended flight control strategy is to use the MCP to control speed and descent rate. In most cases, you'll be able to put the green arc on the fix beyond your next fix for an easy smooth letdown (even on CIVIT). However, PARADISE is still enough of a challange due to it's steep arrival but they've all been tested (737 & 744) and are workable (I hope).Hope y'all give it a try (or in Texan "all-ya'all"). The file "klax_sidstar_cycle_0709.zip" is in the AVSIM FS2004 Flight Plans library.
