January 13, 200818 yr Now I know (even better) why I love my wife so much. She's indulged me patiently for 11 years with my sim hobby. Yesterday, I was telling her that I still need to properly master the start-up procedure on the 747-400, so I was planning to print out more of the PMDG and Craig Read tutorials and manuals. I told her about the sequencing challenges, and the APU briefly, then she said, "But all you do is press the ON switch in the cockpit and you need the GPU. I remember when our flight engineer used to come running out of the cockpit on our 747s years ago shouting 'Is the GPU connected?!'"I was dumbfounded. I mean I know my wife worked as a Golden Girl on MAS for years but this was so....rich--and lovable!Just celebrated 17th anniversary with three beautiful boys with this marvellous lady: my wife!Jonathan Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
January 13, 200818 yr Jonathon,We females can pick up a thing or two. My husband and I are about to celebrate our 30th and he's put up with my sim hobby since Chuck Yeager's Combat Sim and everything after. He couldn't tell me what a GPU, EICAS, PND, FMC is if I asked him, he's just not interested. At least he tolerates my desire to fly simulations on the computer. I especially tweaked him when I wanted to purchase a $60 aircraft (747 Queen of the Skies) from PMDG! But I convinced him that it was far more realistic and superior to the default aircraft in FS and he saw the value in it.You'll find it's not an all male pursuit. There must be more females out there that like flight simulation.Kim
January 14, 200818 yr Do either one of you (Kim or Jonathan's wife) have a sister who is single yet?Just hoping.....;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)Rick Rick Ryan
January 14, 200818 yr Author Rick:Sorry, no sisters--all taken! You'll have to fly MAS and meet the girl of your dreams and even then, a lady like mine is a real rarity even by Asian standards!JS Jonathan Sacks Dell XPS Gen 4, Pentium IV Northwood extreme 3.8Ghz, 3Ghz RAM, eVGA 7900 GTO, 12 GoFlight modules plus MCP-PRO AP and EFIS, GF pedestal, CH rudder pedals, CH throttle quadrant, 42" LG LED, 24" DELL LCD, Windows XP, FS2004, FSUIPC 3.96 FS Autostart 1.1 (Build 11), FS Navigator 4.6, UT, FE, GE, REX, PMDG, Level-D, PSS, etc.
January 16, 200818 yr Sorry Rick. You wouldn't want my sister. Totally clueless about anything to do with computers, aviation and simulation. Besides, she's taken. :-outta
