Now that Vista SP1 is available is it worth moving to Vista to use FSX and the 747FSX?Andrew

Andrew,SP1 doesn't really change much as far as gaming goes for Vista in my opinion. If you use Vista, it's definitely worth getting as there were a number of very substantial improvements to things like file copy speed, the TCP/IP stack, folder view settings, and security things like UAC. I've been very happy with those aspects of SP1 (especially the file copy speed, which was really slow compared to XP before)Vista's largely a wash as far as gaming is concerned in my opinion though. DX10 has done basically none of the things that were claimed - even a game like Crysis can have most of the supposedly DX10-only features turned on in DX9 by way less of an FPS hit via config file hacks, and there have been no DX10 exclusive games yet. The changes to the way video drivers work was extreme and resulted in I generally think XP is still the best OS for gaming/simming and I suspect that won't change until the successor to Vista.

Ryan,Thanks for your advice. I will stick with XP for FSX. I use a Xbox 360 for playing games.Andrew

Yeah I have one of those too hehe. PC still beats it for stuff like FPS games though - can't imagine trying to play Team Fortress 2 without a mouse and keyboard.
