August 29, 200223 yr hello everybody~~Can anyone tell me how can i determine the take off stab trim setting?
August 29, 200223 yr You cannot from the information available in MSFS. However a 4-5 up on the indicator is about right. In real life it would be determined by a whiz wheel or through a PERF page or over ACARS from load planning through weight and balance inputs.
August 29, 200223 yr Why do you want to fly a machine like the 763 if you're too lazy to do a 1 minute search in this forum?http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID33/1293.htmlKind regards,Stephan Haas
August 30, 200223 yr "Why do you want to fly a machine like the 763 if you're too lazy to do a 1 minute search in this forum?":-madIt always angers me to see this type of response to a polite question in what is otherwise a helpful forum. So what if the question has already been asked and answered? Either answer it again, politely refer the person to the previous message or if it bothers you that much don't respond at all. No need for the sarcasm and calling a person lazy.It's nice to know these forums are here and that you can ask a question and get a helpful answer without having to put up with this type of response.{End of rant}
August 30, 200223 yr hihi~~ Have a smile friends~~^^ this forum is the heaven for us, and so many ppl who interested to be in the sky can alwayz find their best answers and lots of knowledges here, so please dun feel any bad...u r all enthusiastic friend of us!!
August 30, 200223 yr You're welcome here! Although I ay sound a bit harsh, in most cases I try to give an answer. My computer doesn't support rant mode. But really, it does help to use the search function.Have fun with pic and have fun with the use of the loadsheet. Kind regards,Stephan Haas
August 30, 200223 yr Stephan, For what it's worth I support your response. 767 PIC has been out for just over 18 months now so there are very few questions that haven't been asked here or in the old forum archives.Since the target audience for 767 PIC is the hard-core simmer it's fair to assume that a user would a least read through the manuals since he/she has more than just a casual interest in the product. Failing that, the SEARCH function is easy to use and recalls all the prior answers to questions.Just from some of the questions posted here recently its clear that folks aren't reading the manuals or even scanning the questions on the FIRST page of the forum.
August 30, 200223 yr Well Stiffy, that's what happens when you start getting all soft on `em. ;-)I too have given up on the hope that some people will learn to do a little work for themselves, but I'm told that it is due to human nature. :-rollHowever, (and that's a big however) this forum is full of great, intelligent people who have learned how to at least try to help themselves. It is far better than many other forums I read.
August 30, 200223 yr Hmmm... I'd hate to be responsible for starting a flame thread here and it seems as though we are splitting into the "pro polite" group and the "search first you dummy" group. I note that the "search first you dummy" group seems to be leading at this point. :-)My point was that it doesn't hurt to be polite to people regardless of the frustration you may feel at repeat questions. I have been fortunate in that I have got along very well by reading the manuals and searching the forum when I have questions.However, sometimes the manuals might not be clear to some people and it helps to have another person explain it. Also, they might not think to search the forum first or they may not get a hit on the search criteria they use.By all means direct people to the search engine for questions already answered, but can't we do it cordially and without insulting people?Anyway, just my $.02... I don't post very often but these type of posts just rub me the wrong way I guess.Take care all!!
August 30, 200223 yr Stiffy,Probably I need a patch as well :-lol The PIC 767 being a wonderful, but not so easy to master aircraft I too would expect it to be flown by people who even *like* to search and read manuals. When I started with it, even before I had the actual software, I used to read the manual in bed. And I did not fall asleep on it!Anyhow, perhaps next time I'll hold my horses!Kind regards,Stephan Haas
August 30, 200223 yr Murf,I'll have a patch and think of some polite and educational referral to the search engine and manuals.And now back to the fun part: flying!Kind regards,Stephan Haas
August 30, 200223 yr Sorry that your thread got somewhat crapped on. Try not to take it personally. It has been a long-standing tendency in this forum to do your homework and then ask. That means reading and searching through the manual and then searching for previous threads in this forum before posting a question on it. In the past, when questions that had been answered repeatedly or recently, the originator of that post would get a response from WorkingStiff (Stiffy) that directed them to the search function and sometimes to the result of a simple search showing an appropriate thread. Others took Stiffy's lead and would respond in kind, and it has worked well to keep this forum fairly tame.One may ask why this tendency should continue as they may feel offended by such a terse response. Well, it stems from the nature of PIC. As indicated above, PIC is a very complex product that requires its users to really study in order to get the most (or just about anything) out of it. In short, you have to do your homework to use the product. That philosophy has spilled over to the "unofficial" support forum. It is how it has developed and is unlikely to change until the "old guard" leaves. We kind of like it this way. Perhaps the response to your query was a bit harsh (maybe not); however, it was definitely within the spirit of this forum's past. If people do not like the response they get from their post, please alert the moderators and ask that they deal with the responder as the mod feels is necessary. Another option is to just let it slide by.I think the reason this thread has gone on so long about this subject is that it has been fairly quiet around here and not many people have been using the technique of directing people to the search feature. We still pound the manuals down people's throats ("Manual Police" as I think we have been called previously), but Stiffy and his assistants have not been making the old-style responses very frequently. Again, don't take it personally. All forums develop their own, unique style and flavor. This one included.
