Any updates for the PIC767 panel in store ?

Featured Replies

Hi,I have been flying the PIC767 for a few years now. Great sofware, very stable (as opposed to the PSS A3XX which has been crashing my PC for months now :-(.). But as I got to know the product better and better, and as I have read through the B757 AOM. I noticed a lot of features included with the real FMC are not simulated in the PIC767. So, the obvious question is: are there plans to update the FMC in the future so it becomes more lifelike. Also, and I know this question has been asked a 1000 times. Why is it so difficult to provide a patch (payware ?) to make the panel compatible with the B757 ? Not a completely new product but an add-on to the add-on maybe ? I wouldn't mind paying a few EURO's for that !Thanks for replying !Bj

Hi Tero,Off course I understand they are working on the new projects and I can't wait for a good A320 simulation !I also understand that Wilco is not going to sell more of their PIC wether or not they include extra features so they probably won't add anything new to the product. But maybe they can sell the 757PIC as a completely new product with the extra features ?Some things which are lacking (partly based on a report of a coworker of the training department at EAT):1. TCAS (like in the Dreamfleet B737)2. Weather radar (is possible apparently since another company feature a working weather radar)3. Use of split IRS4. Possible selectin of radio updates (DME-DME, VOR-DME, LOC...)5. Take-off pages: runway slope, runway condition, center of gravity %, ....6. Wind pages7. ARC waypoint pagesI'm sure there are more. I agree most of these things are absolutely NOT necessary for use in FS although the ARC waypoints would be great. And let me be clear, I love PIC, it's my absolute favorite so far. I was just wondering if they intend to add some new features to the product or if project is closed ?Kind regards,Bj

The PIC Team that made the 767 is not working on the A320. It

Just to clarify - the PIC team officially stated on this forum - no more work (patches, upgrades, etc) on the 767PIC project will be forthcoming.Michael J.

Alas. As much as we'd like PIC to live forever, we have to realize that this bird is nearly 3 years old. Alot of advancements have been made in FS technology since then. Likely, you will see many of the things you mention in any future "PIC" product (I use "PIC" loosely here, because the Wilco A320 PIC team is not the same as those who developed this panel). At the time, everything you see in PIC today absolutely blew away the "bar" by which all flight sim products were judged. I still think the simulation is ahead of its time, but it is definitely missing some of the newer whiz-bang features that we're starting to see in the newer panels. Also, I think its important to keep in mind that PIC was a commercial venture. It's still one of the most technically accurate panels for FS to date (how many products have a RTE OFFSET feature?), but there are some "fringe" elements - like many of those you mention that appeal to the die-hards like you and me, but may not appeal to the average joe-simmer. All those features cost money to implement...so at some point - from a business standpoint - you have to strike a balance or you end up implementing forever.JPS. This panel actually came to life back in the FS98 days with the legendary freeware panel by Eric Ernst (the ee767v7). These guys have been doing 767's since 1997 or somethin' I imagine it starts to get old after 5 years ;-)

I agree 100% with what you say. We were all very impressed with the 767PIC and yes, it was probably this product which started the whole semi-professional add-on market for FS. Compared to the latest payware add-ons it is still one of the greatest and with relatively good frame rates !The only thing I hope for the future is that Wilcopub doesn't get carried away too much with all those new gadgets they will be introducing with their next generation aircraft (e.g. shaking panel with turbulence... that kinda stuff) and keep focused on simulating the realism of the panel and it's gauges and systems. Bj

The B52 first flew in 1952 and is expected to remain in service until 2040. What's a measly 5 years compared to that? :-)Insert jokes about 2'nd and 3'rd generation pic developers .....http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/milita...strat/index.htmRegards, Andreas
