Hi Al,It is sad to hear that the Simubuild website had to close down...... the fleshy tabernacle has died but the spirit lives forever. I am surprised how talent, dedication and enthusiasm could get bogged down by some eeny-weeny half-penny mischief mongers. I am sure freeware designers have nothing against each other - through innovation, healthy competition and goodwill, they will provide the entire flightsimming community with the best addons for years to come, I am sure. It is the funny third-party troublemakers who I feel are really in the game. Remember the story of the old jackal who was too weak to hunt anymore? He set two goats fighting against each other so that he could eat them when they died fighting each other. So Al, I believe it is just nothing to worry about. But NEVER EVER get bogged down by intimidating comments - bullies are infact people with low self-esteem (a fact which I learnt during my undergraduate years in medical school!!!) and they deserve your compassion. Here is a poem (author: unknown) which is hung on the entrance of our Medical College library. Man, that sucks. :( I just got back from a week being out of town & the first thing I see is this. Well, you guys made an excellent aircraft, & I thank you for it. I'm sad to see such a promising group dissolve. :'(

my guess: money. is that what could split apart a group of people creating such an impressive airbus?possibly.we saw dreamfleet pull their a340 project shortly after the release of the simubuild plane. i think that had to do with them realizing noone would buy their plane with such EXCELLENT freeware out there. it is possible that some people approached simubuild members about the potential income on such projects and now they are split between those who want to make money and freeware ppl.just a rough guess but if ppl start splitting out of nowhere theres almost always money involved.and something as "ill" as the FS scene, the only game addon scene that actually evolved payware on a huge schale, the guess of money being a reason for the death of a group is not far fetched

And that kind of comment is exactly WHY groups shut down...Some people never learn, it seems.If that were the reason, I wonder why POSKY didn't close down in 2000/2001.PSS released a 747 and 777, Wilco a 767. That's all POSKY had until the A330 was released and in your reasoning they should have gotten huge offers of money to pull the plug and maybe join those teams...

groups shut down because some ppl suspect monetary reasons?you dont make sense. there is no other game that so much revolves around cash in the add on market like FS. 99% of addons for other games are freeware, hell it took them years and tens of millions of downloaded counterstrikes to make a payable cd version yet you can still download it for free.no game scene and community has such a large amount of greedy people and people who try to make money with their hobby. you are living in disney world if you dont think that in 90+% of FS group related problems money is a major issue.

Anyone who has responsibilities like a family to feed, and tries to earn money from their efforts is labelled as "greedy". Yet the people who forward this opinion seem to want everything for free. Who is greedier, the person who does honest work and asks to be compensated for it, or the person who does nothing, contributes nothing and expects to be given everything for nothing? We are as capable as anyone of producing an A340 of the highest quality, and such a statement I take as an insult to our Fraser Turner, who was building our A340 aircraft.Freeware and the Simubuild aircraft did not even enter into our decision, as what we had planned was VERY different.Let me also add, had we built an "EXCELLENT" A340 aircraft model, with all the bells and whistles that Simubuild's had, AND also ADDED an ultra-complex cockpit / panel, with FMC and detailed systems; gauges that place great strain on system resources, would you expect to be able to even run it on the average system? You'd need a Cray. ;-)Why don't we compare apples to apples, and stay away from such remarks as above. Okay?Believe it or not, even we payware guys (who all started out doing freeware) do read these things. ;-)So, now FS is minus 2 A340s. Anyone happy?Choose your words carefully, as people do read them, and whether freeware or payware, we are all human beings who will only deal with so much when it comes to such remarks, especially when they are 100% false.I can only wonder what Simulbuild had to deal with as to inaccurate comments both in public and private.My best wishes to the Simubuild team. " Anyone who has responsibilities like a family to feed, and tries to earn money from their efforts is labelled as "greedy"."stop putting words in my mouthall i was referring to was something i would describe as the ferdy virus, if you know where im getting at.and yes when you see what "people outside the fs world" do as their "hobby" i.e. gaming, certain aspects of the fs scene are simply ridiculous and greedy money making schemes.its everyones call what they do with their work, however its a joke what certain ppl try to sell in the fs community. take a look at sourceforge someday, compare open source/freeware with commercial products and you will understand what i mean.im just pointing out that to me it is a bad habit of the FS scene that there is a group of people trying to squeeze every buck out of the hobby pilots out there.look at the greatest addons for FS these days and compare them with payware.PAI, projectairbus, simubuild, posky, feelreal.. all unmatched by commercial addons.there are really only 4 commercial addons out there in my opinion worth their money. pss 777+747 and dreamfleet 737 due to their panels and fsflightmax due to too many things to mentionmy hopes are that in the near future a terrain mesh and panel group will form. i think that is all that it takes to put most of the money makers out of business and limit fs addons to a few shareware addons, and professional addons like those mentioned above and get rid of the "middle quality payware"...would be a big leap forward.and where did i say i expect stuff for free? i got fs and about every addon out there as present a while ago for birthday since im starting with my atpl in the near future.
