January 17, 200323 yr Is it possible to simulate the b767-400 with the 767PIC panel, by editing the aircraft cfg and using a 767-400 visual model?
January 17, 200323 yr My guess is it should not be any more difficult than PIC/POSKY merge.BTW, I thought 767-400's panel was same as 777's.Adam
January 17, 200323 yr i can use the merge tool, but i'll have to use 767-300 dynamics, im sure the 767-400 flies a bit different since its heavier, but if i use posky's dynamics the panel aint gonna work properly. And yea, i think the 767-400 has a different full glass cockpit too.how true is that?
January 17, 200323 yr Commercial Member I'm still working on modifying a Cessna 152 that I love tooling around with to work with the PIC panel, but I'm having a few problems. Maybe you guys can help:1. The airframe is compromised by the sheer weight of the panel alone. I've tried editing the aircraft.cfg file to no avail. Nose down and crushed airframe on load up.2. Only one engine on the 152, so none of the engine readings are right.3. On loadup the landing gear collapse.4. If I could get the thing to load without the landing gear collapsing, I'd like to figure out a way for the landing gear to retract because I love those sounds. 5. The ZFW for the 152 is a LOT LESS than the 767. Must find some time to crunch the numbers, and come up with an accurate ZFW, GTOW!Kidding! :)I believe the 400 is a glass cockpit - bearing NO RELATION to the older generation PIC-panel. January 17, 200323 yr Yea, the 400 is an all glass cockpit, and looks very similar to the 777 panel.Id suggest working on a PSS 777 merge w/ the 764 instead. But ofcourse PSS wont help you at all. . . *meanies*
January 17, 200323 yr Hi There,The 777 style cockpit on the 767-400 is a carrier option. This means that if you buy a 767-400 you can specify the old 767-200/300 style panel to keep comonality with your existing fleet, or you can opt for the new 777 style panel. This is very common in aircraft manufacture, as a customer paying around 100-150 million dollars for an aircraft you can ask for almost anything you want and boeing wull try to accomodate. This is why almost every airlines fleets of 747/737/757/767 vary slightly to anothers. Some will have different displays on the EFIS panels.Boeing have done this for years, however with airbus and there common cockpit principle and now fleet wide type ratings - (pilots can be rated to fly both A330 and A318/19/20/21)lureing airline sales away from boeing as airlines become more desparate to streamline and reduce seat/mile costs. I think we will soon see boeing move in that direction, in fact I would not be supprised if the 777 cockpit appears as an option on other boeing jets. Neil.
January 17, 200323 yr This is somewhat true, but what airline would opt for an older cockpit style for the newer 400 series?? I have not seen one. I know that South West 737's are very differn't than the standard Boeing 737. In Fact, I have a Training program that teaches you the differances. But the truth about the 767-400 series might be that they could change "certain" things but not the full cockpit layout. Best Wishes,Randy J. January 18, 200323 yr option for the older 767-200/300 style flight deck. Boeing has offered an alternative display format to replicate the 767-300 style instrumentation, similar to the EFIS/MAP option on the 737-NG.Edit: Regardless whether the carrier has specified EFIS/MAP or PFD/ND as their display option, the 767-400 holds a full common type rating with the 757/767-200/300.
January 18, 200323 yr The 767-400 is only available with the LCD displays, you cannot buy an analog cockpit. The southwest 737NG's differ from all others only in that the autothrottles are not installed, and they use analog syle diplays on the MFD's. They also now have hud's on the southwests. There are other airlines that use this display type ,so its not unique to southwest ,but they are the only one I have seen without autothrottle's.Some of the other differences you see are the radios, and acars setup, and of course everyone has a different interior, galleys video equip ect....
