I have a couple of uploads to make this month... this is the first! It's "Pratt & Whitney SoundEdit for Wilco's 767 Pilot in Command" Version 1.1, and it will be available in the library tomorrow! Here is the description:After much experimentation, I've combined my experience from being a passenger in the first-class cabin of a B767-322, and from watching several flight-deck videos, to come up with a great impression of the P&W engines on the Boeing 767-300ER. Very special thanks to Ryuji Ozawa and Daniel Careri! Version 1.1 includes better balance of the engine sounds and wind, as well as improved flap and gear wind effects! IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IN THE README!!!I those who use this sound-edit will enjoy the small improvements I've made!Best Regards,Phil Geddes

Only slightly... I'm afraid. Basically, since I can't adjust the volue of the gear-noise file, I tried to get the wind noise a little higher at that particular speed to mask the gear-noise just a little bit. If it's any consulation, I've noticed a very similar sound sitting in front of the cabin on a 767... I think the bigger problem is that in real life, that sound comes mostly from the floor. Anyways, maybe someone has found a better solution?Regards,Phil Geddes

Thanks Phil~~ i tried the sound, the wind sound for landing gear is better, and i also watched many cockpit DVDs, i found the packs sound(air blowing sound) in the cockpit of 757/767 is quite loud , nearly covering the sound of two engines when idle, but very little avionics sound, maybe they're all GE engines? except this, i really love the sound, which got very realistic whine and grow, thanks for your great work indeed~~

Great sounds indeed Phil!...best sound set I've heard since Daniel R. Careri's 737-200 sounds were released many moons ago.Regards,Van Latendresse,YeoDesigns Panel/FDE Designer

Indeed... I owe a couple of the sound files to Careri's brilliance! Thanks everyone for your comments and praise-- it's greatly appreciated ;). Feel free to send comments/problems/suggestions to [email protected]. Best Regards.Phil GeddesPS REMEMBER TO Copy "cnroll.wav" from your "..FS2002Sound" directory to "..FS2002aircraft767 PIC Wilco PublishingSound".

Hi Tom...Yeah, I know in those videos you can't really hear much engine noise near idle. However, I'm going on the fact that there are some small noises in those videos that only the human ear or a VERY sensitive recording device can hear. Backing this up is that when sitting in seat 1A (as close as we can legally get to the cockpit these days), I can here a very defined engine whine, which I doubt the PACKS would completely cover up. That's just my take on the whole deal. If any 757/767 pilots would like to commment, please feel free!Sincerely,Phil GeddesPS Have you been watching the VARIG videos? That's where I got alot of my inspiration from!

Knowing that any mod is subject to a degree of preference, I've personally liked an overall ambience sound in the cockpit while performing preflights and planning. I'm using a Mike Hambly file called amb2k.zip. Originally created for fs2k, it appears to be fine with 2k2. In the case of PIC763, I made a back-up of wp767g.wav, re-named the Hambly file and dropped it in the panel/sound folder, overwriting the original. Using just the wav file, I've also substituted the acond.wav's in other panels. IMHO, gives a good cockpit ambience.Coot KCLE

Thanks Phil, i also noticed that the sound we heard from the video would be different with the actual sound heard by pilots in the cockpit depends on the recording devices~~ i haven't watch the VARIG video as you said, but i got some DVDs from JUST PLANS, like Air Do B763ER, Britannia B752 & B763 and United B772, thats where my idea of the loud air conditioning sound comes from. You are right, the packs sound would not completely cover up the whine in the cockpit~you could give a try to those DVDs, their sound recording devices are so sensitive that you can hear a loud "click" when they push a button or locking up their seat belts~~^^

Phil,Great job!Just got the sounds. Only, I changed back the old 752FLAP.WAV, because I feel the hydraulics sound is absolutely great in its place.(I didn't put the original Wilco file suggested in the readme.txt, but the predecessor of the 752FLAP.WAV, i.e. from the previous release. You might want to clarify that a bit in the readme, if there are other people who feel the same way)Other than that... excellent! I especially like the ground shaking noise when taking off and in landing. Especially the touch down feels much more real with these new sounds.Way to go!Tero

Yeah... it's really a preference issue. If I had it my way (and a high quality recording device) I'd record it myself next time I'm on a 767! Thanks very much for the comment. I'll be sure to update the README in future uploads/releases! If you use my VFR/LANDING view keep an eye out for an update coming soon.Regards,Phil Geddes
