February 6, 200323 yr Can someone advise me on what the story is with the max enroute alitude that FS2002's ATC lets you fly compared with that loaded into the FMC using FS2002's planner file. I am enroute from KORD to KBOS and set my cruise altitude to FL320. The FMC shows this on the Legs pages but ATC cleared me to FL190 and that is as high as we get. Higher altitude is certainly attainable. While I do have PF2000 and will install it soon I am wondering if there is a problem with FS2002.
February 6, 200323 yr My suggestion to you is to join the PIC ranks on VATSIM (www.vatsim.net). This will give you a more rewarding experience. Eric
February 6, 200323 yr FS2002 clears you to whatever cruise altitude you have set in the FS2002 flight planner edit tab. Are you sure this is not set to 19000 for the flight in question?Gary
February 6, 200323 yr Id suggest a quick and prompt usage of the rather fake and extremely unrealistic FS2002 ATC system. www.vatsim.net is the only way to go.
February 7, 200323 yr OK. You convinced me to give it a try. After spending from 10.30pm to 2am trying to setup Falcon 4 multiplayer and getting a short sharp "education" on routers,Roger Wilco, ports, networks, hosts, IP addresses and still being the only one in the multiplayer lobby I have avoided this scene like the proverbial. Also the advantage of the FS2002 ATC is that you only stuff yourself around when you make mistakes and you can save your flight whenever you feel like doing something else. But Yes, it is not that realistic I admit and once you have made a couple of flights not that exciting. So I have joined the ranks. Lets see how far I can get.
February 7, 200323 yr While Vatsim IS the way to go, there is always those who prefer to go it off-line, for these I would suggest Radar Contact V3. It provides so much more than the default ATC it's a must have for those not going Vatsim. Just a few penceBest Wishes,Randy J. February 8, 200323 yr Dont forget, MANY, and I mean, MANY of us PIC pilots are also controllers within VATSIM.So, dont try one flight, find out your having a hard time, and just forget about it.Come back this way, and ask a question, we can help answer them im sure.Good Luck
February 8, 200323 yr I have not given Pro Flight a spin so I can't compare the two. I will say again though that Vatism is the most real and fun you can have flying any aircraft. It does have a steep learning curve but the rewards far outweigh the time needed to learn. Mostly it's the ATC jargon and such that one needs to get to know, but like it's been said here, most ATC will be more than willing to lend a helping hand in this regard. Best Wishes,Randy J.
