March 9, 200323 yr Hi,On EsscoAircraft.com ( www.esscoaircraft.com ) I found "Boeing 767 Operation and Training Manual". I was wondering if some of you purchased this manual. Is it worth buying it?I do have "The UNOFFICIAL BOEING 757/767 SIMULATOR CHECKRIDE SURVIVAL MANUAL" http://www.utem.com/store/default.tpl?cart=3243458721162379which is just amazing to read.Have a nice flightMladenwww.dfso.nl
March 9, 200323 yr Yeah I had come across that page a while back. 50$ bucks seem awfully strange for an official Boeing manual but who knows. I do have BoeingWicat computer training cds for the 757/767 that are used for pre simulator learning etc with all systems covered and even an interactive FMC training module. The "The UNOFFICIAL BOEING 757/767 SIMULATOR CHECKRIDE SURVIVAL MANUAL" is next on my wish list!Best Wishes,Randy J. March 9, 200323 yr Mladen, I have their MD80 manual and their Boeing 737-400 manual. Both are copies of real world airline manuals. The 737 is copied from USAirways and the MD80 is from American Airlines. I haven't purchased the 767 Manual yet but I'm sure it would be of the same quality. The 737 operation manual is a two volume set loaded with info and along with that they send you a small training manual that more or less tests what knowledge you can extract from the operation manuels. I spent a lot of time reading this two volume set while I was flying the DF737. I must admit I felt it helped a lot. I never got around to purchasing the 767 manual because when I first got PIC767, this forum had the Pilot that helped develope PIC 767 answering questions here, so why read a manual when you could read his very insightful answers to the barage of operational questions he recieved. I also have "The UNOFFICIAL BOEING 757/767 SIMULATOR CHECKRIDE SURVIVAL MANUAL" along with "The UNOFFICIAL BOEING 737 GLASS GUPPY SIMULATOR CHECKRIDE SURVIVAL MANUAL", and enjoy reading them both over and over again. Hope this helps you in your decision, Rich
March 9, 200323 yr I have the Essco 767 AOM ... the one I have is a pretty "Stock" generic Boeing written manual .. in this case for "Canadian International Airlines"If you want ALL, and I mean ALL of the details, system by system, normal and abnormal procedures, including a detailed FMC guide, then this is for you. This is a copy of what comes with the actual aircraft, and i guess sits in one of the bookshelves behind the pilot or F/O. There are two volumes, the AOM, and a Flight Crew Training Manual written by Boeing, dated 1988.Essco simply copies the manual, and binds it for you. The quality is well .. copied quality ... usually very good.Essco is a great resource if you are really INTO wanting to know ALL the GORY details of everything.
March 9, 200323 yr Photocopies?Hmmm... I have a real AOM (northwest airlines), and it hassome color photos, and all is printed on quality paper.Should I forget about the colored diagram if I order at Essco? Thanks!
March 9, 200323 yr Hi Randy,Thank you for your input :-)Quite interesting stuff these 757/767 training cd's. Do you know if and where they can be purchased?Have a nice dayMladenwww.dfso.nl
March 9, 200323 yr Hi Rich,Thank you for your response.Your lines do help me with making my decision weather or not to buy the manual. There are still a lot of unanswered questions for me about this amazing bird (767). During my holidays I've red couple of times the "757/767 SIMULATOR CHECKRIDE SURVIVAL MANUAL" and still I haven't got enough of it :DThanks again for your inputHave a nice day,Mladenwww.dfso.nl
March 9, 200323 yr Hi Paul,Thank you for your comment :-)I was curious... how heavy (kg's/lbs) are these manuals. I wonder what the shipping costs would be to Europe (The Netherlands). Probably the 50% of manual price :-hmmmHave a nice day and thanks again for your linesMladenwww.dfso.nl
March 10, 200323 yr These ones cannot so far as I know, they are used by Boeing and many airlines/flight schools and I have seen a couple of Pilots with them. And in a post 911 world, I doubt you will see them around for the general public. Best Wishes,Randy J. March 10, 200323 yr If the original manual was printed in color, and Essco copied it in color I am sure it would cost 5 times the price they charge now. I have AOMs for Airbus 340, 747-200, 747-400, 737-3/500, DC-9-80 and the 767 .. none are in color, but all copied nicely onto regular old sub-20 copy paper and bound in Acco binders.
March 10, 200323 yr I would say less than 5 pounds. Suggest you e-mail Essco and ask the total cost including shipping to The Netherlands ... I am sure they would be happy to give you a quote.
March 11, 200323 yr Hi,Today I received e-mail from Essco about the shipping costs.I couldn't believe it :-hmmm ..... about $44.75 by DHL which is the most economical method of shipping (Essco).Should the steamboat be cheaper? :-lolDoes anybody know the pub(bar) where the 767 pilots are :-beerchug? .... maybe I can find some "friends" over there :-bigangelHave a nice day :-beerchugMladenwww.dfso.nl

March 14, 200323 yr Hi Jon,This "Survival Guide" is just amazing. Once I started to read it I forgot the whole world around me :DAll the systems are explained in the way even I could understand it ... and I am just a simple FS pilot :-bigangelSince the contents of this guide are Copyright protected I can not publish any screenshots on this forum. But I would be glad to send a few pictures direct to your e-mail address. If you would like to learn more about 767 FMC than I would suggest you look at the http://www.fmcguide.com/books.html#fug for Big Boeing Guide. This guide describes software features of the Honeywell FMC found on the 757 / 767 / 747 / 777Please let me know if you want to receive some pictures of
