newbie encounters snags with PIC in FS2002

Featured Replies

After installing PIC in FS2K2 (with patch applied), I encountered the following problems.1.FMC does not import flightplans from FS flighplanner.2.The K function that enables keyboard entries into fmc panel is no longer available?3. I always get the dreaded 'incomplete' message at the V-speeds page.PIC ran so well on FS2K... I miss it.Eytan

1 - It will, you have to convert them. FS planner is a piece of junk anyhow, may as well go GPS direct if you are going to rely on FS planner. Try FS Build instead or search the web for real world flight planning (preferred route sites).2 - Top left corner of the FMC display you will find a hidden click spot. It will then show "KA". Click it again to go back to normal mode.3 - I always find I missed something in the pre-flight when I get the "Incomplete" message. PIC runs better on FS2k2.You did install the patch I assume?Good luck.Rob.

"I always find I missed something in the pre-flight when I get the "Incomplete" message."I get this too- usually from not entering the runway # of the departure airport on the "rte" page (page #1). One way you can check that you have all info entered is that you should see V speeds generated on the Take-off page.Bruce.

How do I 'convert' flightplans?Eytan

well, you can by using fsbuild, and alternatively, you can copy&paste the flightplan from the "myflights"folder to the fmcwp "flightplans"folder, but pic won't always recognize them then...hih

Strange...I have had no problems with PIC at all in FS2002.

FsBuild will send the FMC flight plan to the proper location and you can access it from the FMC under company routeie.Do a flight in FSBuild CYYZ to CYULIt will build and save it if you have the FSBuild configured to your PICNext, select in the FMC scratch pad CYYZCYUL and enter it in the RTE page using CO ROUTE The route will appear! You will need to do the rest of the preflight but the legs will be there.

Hi Neal, very strange indeed, as the points raised by the original poster are very valid questions - I'd be very interested to know where you got a version of PIC that imports FS2002 flight plans from the default location (mine can only import them form the 'Pilots' folder). Also, your version appears to allow keyboard entry by just pressing 'K' (mine needs 'Shift+K'). And I'm sure you've never come across an 'incomplete' message from the FMC?Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Gosta,Nice to see this thread renewed after 4 months! (kudos to the goddess of the forums)Re the FMC route problems. After creating my own flightplan, I manually input the waypoints into the route pages, and then save to disk. The flightplan gets saved to the FMCWP foldernavdataflighplans file as a ....rte file.. Later I can retrieve it by typing KCOSKRAP e.g. into the coroute, and bingo the flighplan is loaded. Then I go thru the FMC procedures and get a COMPLETE message. I've tried to copy other non PIC flightplans from the flightsmyflights into the FMCWP, but they don't have a .rte ending ( they are plnflt. files). How can I move the dozens of FS flighplanner created flightplans into the FMCWP so the 767 will recognize them?Eytan

Hi Eytan,I think it can read flightplans with .pln extensions out of the FMCWP/.../flightplans folder. Otherwise, create a folder called 'Pilots' in your FS root directory and put them in there. But remember, that you'll have to rename them , i.e. maximum 10 characters and no spaces or signs (like '-'-, '/' etc.).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Well, so far the best way seems to program all the flightplan into the FMC manually. I don't mind it- it's more realistic for me, and I'm building my own library of flightplans. The method of moving the pln files into the FMCWP appears not to work- the 767 FMC doesn't recognize them.Haven't tried the Pilots way, because there's already a Pilots folder. BTW, I use it to work Proflight 2000 with FS2002. Beats the default atc hands down.Eytan

Go to Flightsim at this address. There's a detailed article on how to do it.http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/howto/pro02.htm. Try it or do a search for Proflight 2000 and FS2002.It's not that complicated. After compiling a flight in PF, you have to go back to the FS directory, and move four files around, and that's it.You turn off the default FS 2002 atc, and you enjoy the PF atc.Enjoy.Eytan
