FSBuild 2 & PIC = Winning Combination

Featured Replies

Using FSBuild 2 I created an EGPF-LEMG flightplan. Followed the instructions and obtained winds aloft data from FSMETEO v5.2 for the flightplan. After Landing in LEMG I took the screenshot as I vacated the runway. Then I filled in the data I collected during the flight.Taxi fuel was approx 400Kgs less than calculated.Flight time and Fuel Burn were slightly longer - Encountered Stronger headwinds than planned and did not have STAR procedure planned - Not in FSBuild database.I arrived with 1500Kgs more fuel remaining than the predicted arrival, but I did start off with 400Kgs more.Unashamed Plug - I cannot recommend FSBUILD 2 enough to use with PIC

I was a bit dissapointed it didn't output an ATS flightplan at the end of the flightplan. Would have been a nice touch.

>I was a bit dissapointed it didn't output an ATS flightplan at the >end of the flightplan. Would have been a nice touch.Admittedly I not seeing the importance of this feature. What would you do with it ? What information does it contain that the Navlog does not.Just trying to understand.Regards.Ernie.

Hi ErnieYou're right it's not that important but it would add a nice touch of realism as r/w fp's always seem to have one at the end.

My only wish is that FSBuild and FSMeteo were better integrated. There are a lot of steps to build a plan and get winds aloft into it. However, I do realize they are different products, so I should consider myself lucky they talk to eachother at all.Is it possible with FSMeteo to get the winds without attaching to FS2002? I know there is an option to get winds and go offline, dumping them into a file, but I cannot seem to get import to work without FS2002.Still, FSBuild 2 looks like a really nice product. I'll have to fly a planned route and see how good the fuel estimates are, but knowing that AAL327 had a hand in it, I'm sure they are very good.Lee Hetherington (KBED)http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

Hi BobAn ATS flightplan looks like this,(FPL-BAW165-IS-B763/H-SRWY/C-EGLL0805-N0455F350 DVR4G DVR UG1 KONAN UL607 SPI UZ714 DETEV UL603 OBEDIUN739 BABIT/N0449F370 UN739 NEPOS UL617 RAXAD UL609 RUGAS UB5 FSKUJ60 MES UG18 SOLIN/NO450F370 H2 SIRON DCT-LLBG0427 LCLK-EET/EGTT0013 EBUR0016 EDVV0038 EDUU0038 LOVV0119 LHCC0137 LYBA0153LWSS0228 LGGG0237 LTBB0320 LGGG0325 LCCC0343 LLLL0417 RMK/TCAS)It is essentially a copy of what is filed to the various ATC units that you're flight would pass through.I know the BAW and ACA real world fp's output this on the last page of the FP, and no doubt most airline flightplanners will too.It is not essential but just nice to have and I can't imagine it being that hard to program, although I'm not sure on that one.Best

Totaly unrelated, but since Ernie monitors this forum...What happend to FSB forum? there is an error messege whenever I use the link on the FSB webpage..//Mike

Just did a trip yesterday from CYYZ to EGLL, and the fuel numbers were within 100 lbs :7 That was using Activesky for the winds aloft. The numbers through the trip fluctuated a bit, but I was spot on at the gate in London.A must have for flight planning.Ben

Ben,Sounds like FSB2 and Mike's PIC 767 fuel perf model did a great job.Minor note, the arrival fuel on the navlog is fuel at Touchdown. If you block into the gate w/ less fuel than that listed on the Navlog, you did not 100% for certain over-burn your flt plan. The fuel variance should be equal to the time in took to roll-out/reverse and then taxi in. For the 767 this can be as much as 500kgs (1000lbs).Cheers,Marc

If that would occur then Fsbuild would then provide support for exporting it.But at the moment, I really see no purpose that producing this format would serve. I mean is there's no ATC organization involved in flightsim requiring this format ??Perhaps I'm being to pragmatic here ???Regards.Regards.

However, I do realize they are different products, so I should >consider myself lucky they talk to eachother at all.Probably a suggestion to make to Marc Philbert. For activesky once the options are set, there are no further steps to go though. This is because Fsbuild can just read the entire winds aloft file and figure it out for itself.FsMeteo on the other hand seems to want to keep this information hidden on the server, and only gives out the winds aloft information in the import planning file, which can't be created until a flight plan is imported. Perhaps its part of his agreement with his weather source ??It took a fair amount of asking, and waiting to get what we have now.I agree I wish it was easier too, but the ball for this one is in Fsmeteo's court.Regards.Ernie.

Can FSBuild not read a full dump of weather generated by FSMeteo? If one could run FSMeteo in the "get world WX and exit" mode then one could do virtually all the planning inside FSBuild (e.g., checking alternate altitudes without having to do that inside FSMeteo). Just wondering.Lee Hetherington (KBED)http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

Just wondering. What file would this full dump be in ? I'm not an expert on FsMeteo by any means. I never tried this feature.I'm certainly open to the idea of making this easier for Fsmeteo users.Edit:Ok I tried the "get world WX and exit" option, its asking me for a userid and password, what you you enter there ? If I leave it blank nothing happens.Regards.Ernie.
