*Shaking my head*Apparently I haven't missed anything.

Right to the point Mr. stiffy!I used to browse this forum 5-6 times a day - I just can't handle it anymore now. This forum was always an endless resource of info (yes, I remember the ponsky ponderosa thread) and now look at the threads of page 1:I can hear the tumbleweeds...... rolling across the PIC forum. To Mr. Wade Chafe, Mr. Eric Ernst, et al...... Who is using Simbird's unofficial patch?Who else is sick of this? FS2000 PIC in FS2004?What is the 'official' word on patching PIC?Throw the PIC 767 Away. A Long Time Ago in a Virtual Gathering Far Far Away767 Pic FS2004 Patch..... Lets show our support here..Now that PIC is gone what I'm gonna do?767PIC and DF737 Unoffical Patches?no disrespect for any author, but this is page 1!!! some good questions went to page 2 and faded away, making room for all this 767-2004 junk posts. We all want PIC in 2004. we ALL. ALL of us. not even a single soul would vote no. Having made 767PIC, I assume WELP are no fools, so trust me they know it.So pretty please - let my forum go (to where it once was). By dealing with real PIC problems and issues in this forum you are showing more interest in the product than by demanding something you are not entitled to in the first place. we need a moderator.End of rant (for now).Ilan

Hi Lenny,<>Allow me to change my comment to... "Of all the forums on AvSim this has to be one of the most hostile to people who either lack the necessary knowledge to use the forum's software or make the mistake of posting a question that has been asked before". But that's dwelling on the negative and I don't particularly wan't to do that.<>That's a good point but unless people post some personal info in their profiles all we can do is guess. The only people I suppose are young are those that type as though they're using a mobile phone SMS service. But you're right in that most of us will be older - maybe 30+? I'm 52. So why don't we start giving a bit more info about ourselves so others can build up a picture of who we are communicating with? Being actively involved with the Radar Contact team has made me feel part of that group because I've been able to see shots of many of them. I'm sure the same would work here.I would agree that newbies should be encouraged to use the search facilities but can people please stop jumping on them as I genuinely believe it shows this community in a worse light than the poor sod who asked the question!<>Lenny, you're entitled to an opinion just like the rest of us and I appreciate your comments - thanks.Cheers,

Ray (Cheshire, England).

Hi Murph,<>That's okay. It would be a strange world indeed if everyone agreed with me! :-)<>I'm not suggesting Dave was right to post that question when so many other topics apprared to cover what he asked. I just objected to him being jumped on. It's not the first time I've seen this but I've always held back from replying until tonight. Perhaps it's the hot humid weather that's making me a bit tetchy?I too would love to see a patch for FS2004 but if I'm totally honest I think Wade has already given us the answer and we just don't want to accept it. It's patently clear to me that Laurent's priorities lie elsewhere and if he's the only one who can program certain elements of the panel then the project is dead in the water. Remember the team were saying months ago there was something in the pipeline but it's never come to anything as the team have other things more important in their life. As far as I'm concerned I've had 3-4 good years out of the 767PIC but all good things come to an end and I don't think I'll ever be flying it in FS2004. I'd love to be proved wrong but I don't think I will.Cheers,

Rob,<>Well possibly your right but then again perhaps they lack the skills to use all the forum's facilities? On more than one occasion I have used the search facility to find certain topics but because the search word was a common one it returned too many threads to make finding anything easy. Ultimately, many people just think that posting a message will elicit some friendly advice or a link to the answer. Jumping on people makes any forum appear hostile to inexperienced members. Shouldn't we be embracing new members instead of making them feel as though they never want to come back again?I appreciate there are a lot of repetative questions in the forum but most of these could be avoided with a single post by the moderator (who also happens to be on the development team) stating the group's intentions - patch or no patch and if there is to be one an approximate timescale for delivery. Not difficult really. Of all the forums which support 3rd party software this has to be the worst for developer support. Ask yourself why? I would suggest because they've lost interest.Cheers,

Hello DShutt,I've left you 'til last! :D<>Man, you really are a character aren't you? :-lol I don't dislike you - how can I? I don't even know you. All I know is the guy that appears to have a short fuse towards certain people but doesn't have a nasty side when he's told off for misbehaving (as I deem it). You would be very interesting to meet I think. Your comments place you in a league of your own.<,1. I did NOT lambast anyone. Go back and read it again.>>Back to dictionary definitions again...See Also: beat, beat up, brush down, castigate, chasten, chastise, correct, criticise, criticize, objurgate, pick apart, tell off, work over. Some might consider you told off Decision Height for his comments - I certainly did.<<2. The real clique you speak of exists: it is a conglomerate of multi-national Hamster/Gerbilized Quantum Accessible 55Gig Iodized-Encrusted Four-poster users who have a secret handshake and meet regularly to make fun of people from Cheshire. >>:-hmmm<<4. Ray, you seem like a relatively intelligent Chesherite, why would you defend members who cannot READ? >>Of course he can read. How would he make it to this palce if he couldn't? If you've been using AvSim for a while then you know all of its features and tools. Newbies perhaps don't. Would you agree?<<7. Humour. Look it up like you did for fatuous. I fear you may be missing some.>>No need. I possess plenty of humour although I tend to have a totally different sense of humour to you. I feel we come from different planets :-(Ta ta.

>I used to browse this forum 5-6 times a day - I just can't>handle it anymore now. >This forum was always an endless resource of info (yes, I>remember the ponsky ponderosa thread) and now look at the>threads of page 1:Indeed. Demanding, yes, even asking for /another/ patch to make PIC work in yet another sim (that has been out for what, five days?) seems almost absurd considering what we have already got from the PIC team, for free.Wilco never was much interested in supporting the product. Eric was. When I first got here early 2001, just after PIC had been released, he seemed to be on the forum almost constantly, not only providing support for the product (without getting paid for it, don't forget) but also answering questions about real life 767 flying and airline operations, providing the community with real life flightplans, etc, etc. There was even an update released, called a patch, but there wasn't really much that needed patching. It added a lot of features that we now take for granted, and it was available for free. Yup.Eric continued to provide support on the forum up until Sept. 11, when I guess his priorities in life changed a bit. Nevertheless, the PIC team made a patch to make their product work with FS2002. Which was provided for free. Again. (We all know what happened with that patch. I won't mention it)What is it that makes PIC so good? A "labour of love", it's been called, and I suppose there is something to that. While released as payware, it was built very much around the freeware spirit. Four guys, all with day jobs, building this thing in their spare time. For FS2000, don't forget. Then they supported the product. In their spare time. Built an update. Supported the update. In their spare time. Patched it to work in FS2002, in their spare time. We paid for the CD. (but it was cheap) The rest was provided to us for free.Look back at what we've gotten over the last 30 months. Should we really demand more? Can we? Should we even ask for more?---No, I agree with Ilan. Let's go back to discuss the marvel that is PIC. And that works perfectly in a sim it was never designed for.
