October 17, 200322 yr A wee bit frosty today over northern UK...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/43707.jpgoops - Snoopy is not in the dog house :-( System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
October 17, 200322 yr That's a little off. :-) Here's the current data for over POL:41000 320/008 -54Are those the FS Meteo high resolution winds aloft? Cheers,Graham
October 17, 200322 yr Author Affirm high resolution...likely some bad data at one of the reporting stations...went down to -62 after a few minutes...winds were strong all the way down. System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
October 17, 200322 yr I think the high res are based on an algorithm and not forecast data. I don't use them over land for that reason.[pre]I did BOS-MAD a few weeks ago and the wind/temps were way off with high resolution winds aloft enabled. From FP with real data FS/FsmeteoF370 49N/50W -53 270/51 -69 250/107 50N/40W -49 250/55 -64 220/97 49N/30W -54 240/89 -59 270/59 47N/20W -56 250/36 -54 280/54 PASAS -58 280/27 -58 350/17 -High res. disabled[/pre]I am patiently waiting for Activesky 2 which promises to have the real forecast data. :-) Graham
October 20, 200322 yr Author That is PIC767. System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
October 20, 200322 yr FS Meteo is inaccurate because it "makes up" the winds and temps based on real world data.Forgive me if I'm wrong but I investigated the workings of Fs Meteo. It only downloads a limited amount of aloft information. It then uses this to compile other data for the rest of the world...the missing data, and the formulae used is basically a bit "off"...hence you get sporadic temperatures which you would hardly ever get in the "real world".I recommend Active Sky...more realisitc data, and very closely matches real time-real world flight plans I use to fly with.Regards
