January 9, 200422 yr By the way...if you want a more unstable model, just try X-plane *g* (you'll get unexpected rolling to 40+ deg bank if you use the rudder)Stefan
January 9, 200422 yr Mark, after your consideration, I make some approach test (also in autoland) and I think that you have center the problem!!!The ILS course (in FMC) isn't correctly line to the runway. So what is possible make for this issue?ThanksValerio
January 12, 200422 yr Valerio,That's not instability. The real 767 autopilot is programmed to intercept the localizer with flaps 5 and Vref30 +40kts e.g. around 180kts.If you are considerable faster, the A/P will overshoot.BTW, normally, if you fly with the A/P off, the A/T should be off as well.RegardsBernt Stolle Capt 767
January 12, 200422 yr Thank you for the precise information; what you think of FDE PIC and you don't have never problem during a landing?Bernt are you a really Capt?Bye, ByeValerio
January 12, 200422 yr Valerio,YES!!! I'm brand new to the 'real' 767. Very exiting and the finest airplane I've flown so far.So far I've encountered only two'serious' shortcomings.Firstly, the way too low roll rate. I doubled the aileron effectivness and it's much better now.Secondly, the missing trim changes with power changes. Landing the 767 is easier than anything else that I've flown so far. Also applicable to the PIC7671. Fly the approach with Vref 30 +5kts.2. at 30ft slowly raise the nose by 1-2deg and reduce the thrust to idle. Now just keep the nose steady. That's it. RegardsBernt Stolle Capt 767
January 12, 200422 yr Bernt,I very happy for talk with you and that this product is very cheered too a real pilot; thank for the suggestion but if during a approach (in landing configuration) I decide of mantain in manual the final path when I unhook the A/P must necessary unhook the A/T too?Hope the you can follow much this forum...Thanks for the interest!Valerio
January 13, 200422 yr Valerio,I can answer this one for you. It is standard procedure to fly manually all the way, when flying manually. So you should always disengage both autopilot and autothrottle when flying by hand. Technically there isn't anything to prevent you from using A/T when hand-flying, but that is not considered good practise, and it should not be done.I think Bernt already said this in one earlier msg.Tero PPL(A)
January 13, 200422 yr Our poor 777 pilots HAVE to use the A/T even when flying manually ;-)Seems to be a company decision. I know one company which operates md80s and they also fly manually WITH autothrottle.Regards Bernt Stolle Capt 767
January 13, 200422 yr Yes, it is mostly a company policy thing. Finnair belongs to the "if you fly manually, then fly manually" group with all of their types. Not sure about the Scarebus though, but I wouldn't dare to go there anyway ;).Tero PPL(A)
January 13, 200422 yr Thanks, for yours good response; last question! what you think about 737 PMDG, is better of 767PIC? I don't believe.......(I buy the 737 thinking that the 767 was eventually, luckily so isn't).ciaoValerio
January 13, 200422 yr Nevertheless, the PMDG is impressive (a lot of features and, what I think is the most important: really good Flightmodel + AP+FMC and very fluent displays - like on the real plane)! Nd who says that you can't enjoy 2 good FS airplanes?!Stefan
