March 30, 200422 yr Just descended below Minimums on the ILS for RWY 10 at LEAL.The VLC 2L STAR offers an interesting DME ARC From the Initial Fix to the Final Approach Fix thru a valley. My Flight was in near VMC with a few Scattered Clouds. This would be a very interesting procedure to carry out at night or in IMC.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/69344.jpg
March 30, 200422 yr Mark,...you are alive!!What ALT AGL do you usually disengage the A/T? ...notice you still have it on.I usually kill the A/T with the A/P disengagement at about 1000 AGL or whenever I get bored :-)I assume the A/T has to be turned OFF before touchdown or it will attempt to maintain the speed dialed up in the window during flare (134kts in this case).I also see Flap 30 set, I find it easier to control the attitude and use less power at Flap 25 but I guess that's a preference issue. Do you normally use Flap 30? You're route has ended as well thus the FMC Message...are you feeling ok? heheheJust curious.Rob.
March 30, 200422 yr Rob,usually disengage Autothrottle when Fully Configured in the Landing Config. I just forgot to disengage it.I normally use Flaps 30. In some cases I will use Flaps 25.The Route ended Automatically when I flew below minimums. I had no missed approach procedure programmed. Not sure if this would clear the Route or not. I know that you can still view stuff on the PROG page on the real bird after it lands.
March 30, 200422 yr HiFLAP30 is the normal landing flaps for the 767 (and 757).A/T should always be disengaged along with the A/P, which can of course be anything above minimums (assuming other than cat2/3 app)Tero PPL(A)
March 30, 200422 yr With regards to the A/T. In 'real world' they have the autothrottle disconnect switches on the throttles which disengages SPD mode.In PIC, all I do is siwtch off the A/T Arm switch, which gives the aural and EICAS message and disengages SPD mode. Then basically engage it again, that way it's on for the G/A if need be, and there's no EICAS message.Cheers[br][/img]
March 30, 200422 yr "FLAP30 is the normal landing flaps for the 767 (and 757)."I suggest to you it is airline specific what "normal" is for flap settings...I know for a fact Air Canada "normally" uses Flap 25 for landing, Flap 5 for takeoff unless circumstances dictate otherwise.Rob.
March 30, 200422 yr Almost all airlines I know of with 757's use Flap 15 as standard.Cheers[br][/img]
March 31, 200422 yr Rob,No need to get upset about it. I just told you what is normally used.A quote from Boeing's own (not airline specific) 763 flight crew training manual:"Landing configurations and speedsFor normal landings use flaps 30. This provides additional aft body clearance from the runway compared to a flaps 25 landing."regards,Tero PPL(A)
March 31, 200422 yr Hi Ben,Actually the r/w switches in the throttles disconnect the A/T, not only the SPD mode. When you press the switches again, the "A/T disconnect" text is removed from the EICAS and the warning thus cancelled. Some a/c have it so, that the a/t disconnect aural warning continues until the switches are pressed again.cheers,Tero PPL(A)
March 31, 200422 yr HiYes for the 757 FLAPS15 is the "normal" takeoff setting (as per Boeing).Tero PPL(A)
March 31, 200422 yr Just browsed through AC material. They allow landings in both configs.Maybe they prefer using FLAPS25 because it yields lower (!) Vref's at large Gw's. Who knows ??http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~partanen/jako/AC_sop.jpgcheersTero PPL(A)
March 31, 200422 yr the digits inside the TCAS/VSI indicate what? (not the TA or 40) But what appears t be 2.0.20?
