June 15, 200421 yr Whats the RUSH.........MS wont be turning out another version of MSFS ever again so its not like WadeCs balls are against the walls trying to get it done before the next version comes out.I to am waiting as well.
June 15, 200421 yr Commercial Member This has been talked about (again and again) in another thread on the FRONT PAGE of this forum... http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=24611&page=1.THERE WILL BE ANOTHER VERSION OF THE 767 - NO DATES FOR RELEASE AND NO SCREEN SHOTS...The rumour that MS will not develop another version of FS is hooey/hokum/falacious/untrue/ca-ca. MSFS site states: "When is the next version of Flight Simulator going to be released? What are the new features? If you've read the article Making Flight Simulator, you know that the Flight Simulator team is always working on a new version. We've published Flight Simulator for some 20 years, and we plan to keep building new releases far into the future. Flight Simulator has become a very complex product, and it takes a long time to create a new version. During the development phase, we don't talk about our plans, because plans change. Although we work from detailed specifications and schedules, as we create the product we often add, modify, or remove features. To avoid confusion, we keep quiet about the details of new features and release dates until the product stabilizes late in the development process. We don't want to promise what we won't eventually deliver. When we do have news about new versions, you'll find it first on the Flight Simulator Web site, where it is posted for the entire community to read."It has been addressed and refuted on the MS FS website at http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/default.asp. June 16, 200421 yr They do that because Microsoft fails miserably with most of their software, sometimes with Flight Sim. With the PIC team they dont make the same mistakes. They just #### some of us by not showing previews :-lol
June 25, 200421 yr I wish I could post this message WITHOUT it having to bounce to page one, because all I want to do is "vent" a little.First off, some statements of understanding:* I know and respect the reasons for not previewing the new product.* I know and appreciate the reasons for not providing anticipated release dates, and for taking the time they need to create a stable and functional product. I'm just sooo looking forward to a new version. For the past few weeks, I have been grappling yet again with reverting back to FS2002 in order to have access to the PIC767. I miss it for the 767 aspect, and I miss it in the stand-in role for the 757. I don't have any FS2004-only aircraft in my inventory to my knowledge, so the functionality of my flying shouldn't be impacted...It's the eye candy I am having trouble letting go of. I *really* like the way FS2004 looks. In an ideal world, we'd have a new, perfectly working version of PIC yesterday. :) For now, I'll have to either wait -or- drop back and punt to the older system - which, for many of you, is exactly what you are doing. I'm just stubborn and don't want to run multiple flightsim versions. Keep up what I am sure is the great work on the new PIC, designers. You have a a good number of folks who are eagerly (BUT PATIENTLY!) awaiting the results of your labor! (And if you need any Mountain Dew runs, just let us know.)Eternally debating the FS2004 --> FS2002 switch,-Greg
June 25, 200421 yr Commercial Member I have not migrated to FS2004 (and probably never will - though I do own the product). PIC767 and RFP742 and DF734 all work splendidly with FS2002. As well as FSMeteo, SB, and loads of brilliant freeware aircraft, sceneries, files, etc. In fact, I will most likely remain with FS2002 forever. I know how the software/hardware game works, and it's a losing battle for the consumer. Sure, puffy clouds are nice... but at what expense? Frame rates? As for the eye-candy: everything looks like same at cruise; one airport is so much like another...I fly the airplane, not the scenery. My advice: reinstall the BEST VERSION of FS... June 25, 200421 yr People is just software, just wait and dont cry. its amazing how some people dont have a life except to fight for the release of a software or if previews were offer or not. just wait if you dont want to wait guuess what you have to wait, as by making all this stuupid fighting all you are doing is identifying to the developer that defenetly he can charge a lot for his software. You guys are uunbelivable. with enough problems in life you guys fight for a software release. laffable and stupid.
June 25, 200421 yr I was planning to revert this weekend, but I came to a negative realization - USA Roads (the newly released "all roads in the USA" addon) is designed only for FS2004. I haven't seen anyone post about sucessfully getting it to work inside FS2002. Those of you who haven't seen it in action are doing yourselves a great disservice! :) For the VFR pilot, or the pilot who seeks additional accuracy in ground representation, it's great! If I could find a post with instruction on getting it to run in FS2002, I'd be all over it in a heartbeat!-Germ
