October 13, 200421 yr Hello,I'm not sure if this was answered in another thread, but how will the frame-rates in V2 compare with other packages currently available (PMDG, etc...)? Will the 2D cockpit be comparable to the old PIC (which was excellent on frame-rates!)? Was the virtual-cockpit constructed keeping maximum frame-rates in mind? I'm very excited about your upcoming release, and am wondering if now is a good time to upgrade my hardware.Best Regards,Phil Geddes
October 13, 200421 yr I too am interested in what the FPS will be like as I running a pretty ancient system by todays standards. i don't know if its just me but I have ALWAYS got better frame rates with planes that have photo-realistic panels as opposed to rendered ones with NO exception and PIC always ran well on my system so hopefully the same will hold trrue with V2
October 13, 200421 yr Commercial Member I can't compare to the other products, I don't own them and haven't seen them. I do believe that the 2D frame rates are better than the original. The CRT motion is very smooth, making it much easier to hand fly with the FD.The VC displays suffer from low frame rates, as do all VCs due to the design of FS itself. MS sacrificed gauge refresh rate to maintain high frame rates for the outside view in the VC. I don't know how it compares to other VCs for the same reason as noted above. We may have multiple VC options, I'm not sure about that yet.Wade
October 14, 200421 yr Wade,Multiple VC options would be great. I know I am not the only VC user, I totaly lost interest flying from the 2D panel. It is a question of personal taste... Thanks for consideringJohn
October 18, 200421 yr i hope they will be able to give us a real good and fps smooth VC...if so,i'll be it surely.
October 20, 200421 yr All i think is that we need a 2D cockpit with decent frame rates AND a VC for others who like it.This is where PIC lost out in the 320PIC.
