December 2, 200421 yr My current headset is apparently too noisy, so I am looking for a new one. Question 1: USB connect or in the sound card? Question 2: Any recommendations? All advice gratefully accepted Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
December 2, 200421 yr Most likely its not your headset but your on board sound card.USB would be the way to go, however they are costly getting a PCI sound card would be a cheaper way.Not sure if you can get a 1/8inch head set jack to USB.
December 3, 200421 yr Author Dave, you could be right about the sound card. I connected a separate microphone and I could still hear my breathing in the earphones. I am going to try a USB headset. Amazon had a Logitech USB 30 headset 25% off normal retail price. Can't waite for it to arrive. Thanks Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
December 4, 200421 yr If you have some money spare have a look at the plantronics DSP500 :DThis summer amazon.com had them at almost 50% off.. ;) I got one and i am absolutely satisfied. Luca Luca Benelli PMDG & WX Radar? read here
December 4, 200421 yr If you can hear yourself coming back out your speakers you have to go in to your sound setting for play back devices on the Advanced tab make sure the box to mute your mic is checked, will not bother the out going signal.
December 4, 200421 yr Author Thanks Luca.Dave,I have a Soundblster Live card. Where can I find this mute option? Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone

December 5, 200421 yr Author Thanks dave, I had inadvertantly found it and voice now seems to OK. It appears that if SBRelay starts I have no problems if the 'delay' on the session is very low eg 0msec.Now I can't get FSNav to join the session or see other a/c. I will have to go back to the manuals to see what I have done. Thanks again for your help Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
December 6, 200421 yr Author Has to be the sequence I am doing things. In some circumstances FSNav will not join a multiplayer session, and I use the 127.0.0.1 setting. If I start SDRelay, FS9 and then FSNav then they both join the session. But I have also found that when you select the multiplayer option in FS9 unless the delay is 'very' low millisecs it's a waist of time. Still I will keep trying, yes I know very trying. Thanks Dave Regards Keith B. Life is a short dash between two dates on a Tombstone
