September 22, 200223 yr Hi all.Roland insisted I post this picture of my Cessna 172 home cockpit that I'm building. Enjoy.
September 22, 200223 yr This looks great. Just the type of cockpit I would like to build. Not very many GA cockpits out there. Any chance to get some details on how you are building this. Also are you going to be using a projection system for the visuals? Keep us posted if you can as you proceed. How much time have you put into the project so far? Would love to see it in person.great job. Take care,Gerry
September 22, 200223 yr Forgot one other question.Where are you getting the gauges and how are you conecting them. Thanks again,Gerry
September 22, 200223 yr Please let us know how you are working out analogue gauges, amazing work.Roberto
September 22, 200223 yr PeterKSteel is real they say!Looks just like the real thing...very good sheet metal work!pete
September 23, 200223 yr Seeing as the gauges seem to be hooked up with ribbon cable, Id say they are being supplied by the real cockpit which has its own interface.... Just a Guess!Gaz
September 23, 200223 yr Thanks for the kind words guys. Actually I have to confess that I didn't make the panel or the gauges. I drew the panel in Mastercam, then took the dataset to a local sheet metal company & they used their waterjet CNC to cut out the holes. I bought the gauges from The Real Cockpit.Basically the sim is built on a 4' x 8' 3/4 inch MDF. I used 1 x 4 pine to frame it. We'll cover it with aluminum. We found a bunch of 4 x 8 sheets of aluminum coated white in a surplus place. It's real soft & cuts real easy. I'll post some more pictures later.Hi Roberto. Long time on see. I'm going to use 4 15" Flat Panel LCDs for the outside view. My outside view will look something like Steve's Archer. You can see a picture of it in the WidevieW forum. Here is the website.http://httpd.chello.nl/~s.ferris/archer.htmRegards,Jim
September 23, 200223 yr That's looking mighty nice, Jim! Wish I could afford TRC's gauges. They really complete the simulation don't they?Hope you'll be posting more as your project progresses. As everyone says, there aren't too many GA home cockpits so it's always great to watch one come together.Peter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums Moderator

http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/logo75.gifBush Flying Unlimited"At home in the wild"Looking for adventure? September 24, 200223 yr Hi Jim, You see lots of folks here are interested in GA cockpits, and yours is indeed a fine example. Thanks for posting. BTW, it is not too difficult to add force feedback to your yoke system. If you are interested, let me know. RgdsRoland
September 24, 200223 yr Hi Roland,Do you have a doc (like your homemade throttle doc) regarding adding force feedback?Peter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums Moderator
September 24, 200223 yr Hi Peter, No new doc's yet. I was planning to add the description of the force feedback implementation on the yoke in the same doc that will describe the home-made motion platform, since the platform uses those FF signals as well. However, the whole system has to be tested before I put anything on paper. (As usual, the realworld job is interferring with the home projects) ;) RgdsRoland
