Hi,as i don't know anything about electronics, pcbs, microcontrollers etc, i friend of mine, helps me for the FsBUS's PCBs.So today we finished the Com and Display boards and we manage to Flash the PIC succesful. As the English manual says, after pressing the reset pushbutton on Com board we have "-" a dash in every of 5 7-segment displays. Ok!!!But after this we always see only the dash even we changing the values with a simulated rotary switch on altitude. We can see the values that changing both in FsBusBeta2 s/w and in FS2002's MCP, but we can not see a value in 5 X 7Segment dispay. It is in CID1. I have confirmed that PIC was flashed and there was the 3001 in the beginning.Any idea??Something more.....According the manual and drawings the Com powers up bu 9V and when programming we need about 13,5V (increased by 555). We noticed that the power was coming in Display's PIC was less that these value, so we had to increase the input volts just for flashing about to 15,5V for a complete error free flash. Do you had such a problem? Why we can't have from the begging a higher input volt 13,5V direct for flashing and reduced for normal operation and we have 9v?(Sorry, if a made a mistake or telling something complete wrong, but as i said i don't know anything about electronics. If you need anything about ERP s/w i can help you :-) )Thanks Eddie Armaos

Hi!Have you tried with the "Display test" dialog? There, when you give the correct CID for the 7-segment, it should show a running number. If that works, the board is working correctly and the problem is somewhere in the configuration. If the display test doesnt work, then there is something wrong in the circuit or in the flashing./Tuomas

>I have tested but nothing there also. I don't have any number>in my 7-segment display :-(>Only 5 dashesHm. And you did set the CID=1 in the display test too? That is strange./Tuomas

Help!!!!Both in flash and in Display check the CID is 1. Nothing there, only dashesWe also checked the serial port with oscilloscope but no signal comes to Com, after the flash. So that's the reason why we don't have display test passed and only dashes. Is there an extra setting in the FsBus s/w, after the flash? Thanks Eddie

It's me again....With FsBus Version 1.3 the display test runs without problem. So there is something wrong with the Beta ver2, or i'm doing something wrong.Have you try the beta2?Eddie

Thanks Tuomas for your replies!Of course i took of the jumper from flashing mode, if had not i think it would not run also with beta 1.3 version.Btw we just made and test succesful the FsBus Key. It runs perfect in both 1.3 & 2.0 versions. So it looks that maybe is a problem in ver2.0 with fsbus display (?)Eddie

Could be yeah, the 2.0 beta has bugs, please report them to Dirk, but lets try to resolve stuff here on the forums so he has more time to hack on the software.Anyone else having FSBUS 2 working with 7-segments?Tuomas

I send an email to Dirk about this.It seems that all the people are on summer holidays, so I don't know if there is anyone remaing in front of his PC for reply to us :-)We are remaing here to keep the forum "open" !!Thanks Tuomas :-beerchugEddie

Hi there, wish i would have holidays, but this is not the case ;(i noticed 2 exceptional things when reading the mails.1. 9V as input are enough, because the 555 with following diodes and caps doubles this to ~16V. The 78L12 with LED regulates down to 12V+1,8V (LED). If you increase this to 15, the result is nearly 30V.Some parts may feel a bit warm with this "high voltage".2. If you can't see rs232 sending signal, how will the display come to the idea to show something ? Follow the transmitting signal from pc to com and to the display board. Find out, where it gets lost and your display will run.good luckDirk

>Hi there,>>wish i would have holidays, but this is not the case ;(Hey. Just go and have some rest and fun. Nobody will die without the next FSBUS2 beta :-) We'll survive, there's the long dark winter ahead anyway, a lot better time to hack on home cockpits...Thanks a lot for what you are doing, now just ignore us for the rest of your vacation and have fun :-)Best,Tuomas

Hi Dirk, you are always welcome to visit Greece in summer time! The sea and the sun are beautiful this period and you may found many places with or without many people for your vacations !!!About the Fsbus now, i will check it again, but i can't understand why with ver1.3 works fine and wih the same configuration beta 2 doesn't. (!?)ThanksEddie ArmaosAthens

Hi Eddie, sorry ti hear of your problem - maybe these facts will help you:1. FSDISP DOES work with beta2 !2. When everything is connected turn of you PC and the power from FSBUS (NOTE: 9 V ARE enough !!!!!)3. turn on ONLY the power from FSBUS - you MUST see "-----" Please tell me the state you are at now.ThanksMathias

Hi Mathias, yesterday it was my first day, that i tested in my PC the FsBus Com + FsBus Display + FsBus Led. Today i will also confirm that the FsBus Key is also fuctional. So until now i have:1. FsBus Display is working fine with Beta2 & with Ver1.3 also2. FsLed the same, is working fine3. None test (display and led) are running with Beta 2. I can see the five dashes on 7segments.4. Both display and led tests are running fine with ver 1.3. In the display the numbers are "running" and the led can be switched on/off5. All the tested circuits are also ok with FS2002So, i have some questions more, please if you can send a reply :-)1. Is there a constraint for the length between: a) The FsCom and the PC, serial cable about 3m it's ok? :( The FsCom and other CID in normal mode (not when flashing)? c) From FsKey, or FsLed, or FsLed to the switches, leds or Displays?2. Which is the normal procedure to use the Fsbus with Fs2002? First start FS, then widefs, then fsbus circuits, then fsbus s/w and final send network broadcast? How to use this ? In broadcast menu, there are many things.3. I had an error when using the same offset more than 3 times for different leds, so i edit the fsbus.fb2 file and enter there the same offset 2 more times with other "name" and it worked. Is ok this, or i will have a problem in the future?4. Final i was looking to find a toggle switch with 3 stages ON/ON/ON. I found only ON/OFF/ON. How can operate with this one the PM's EFIS function for VOR1/OFF/ADF1?Sorry about all these questions, thanks a lot for your interest and all the guys here!!Eddie ArmaosAthens
