October 27, 200322 yr Yep. Just depends if (1) they have milling machines and (2) they let you make your own stuff in the course.Peter http://bfu.avsim.net/sigpics/PeterR.gifBFU Forums ModeratorRenegade/Seawolf Design Group (RSDG)
October 27, 200322 yr Is it possible to put those cad drawings on this forum, I am very interested to those babies and give a try to make them also... Regards Pepper
October 27, 200322 yr About drawings. I won't put them to forum. There is simply too much files.But. I will put them to my FSBus pages. So you can get them.I won't hold information and knowledge what i have gotten with this project. So everything will be accessed for free. There is some problems. All desings are done with SolidWorks2003. Now i'm changing to versio 2004 what is not compatible older versions. But probaply i will finish this one with 2003.And because SolidWorks is expensive commerencial program. Only few have access to it. This causes that 3D design is available only for SD users. And 2D drawings with dimensions will be available as Autocad drawings and as PDF-files.Let me finish with hardware. Then i try to get some time to finish and publish those drawings. This Will take some time. But they are coming.- J

If so, anyone who's interested can pick up a "knock-off" program called TurboCAD for about $50 that can read them.... beats paying thousands for one of the top-of-the-line real 3D design progs like Solidworks.Richard

They have courses from cross stitching to language groups.Anyway, my friend is on a metalworking one, and he's building a CNC machine there, so.. :-)Tuomas
October 27, 200322 yr Usually home build CNC can't mill some 10mm thick aluminium. Or use 20mm end mills. I have used 2, 6 and 13mm thick aluminium on my project. Also there is 9 and 6mm POM plastic. With 2-3 drives you can Maybe mill some 6mm plastic home home made system. But i will tell you that it is pain. - J
November 2, 200322 yr End is nearOnly thing needed. Some adjustments with frictions and i have to replace those wires with some connectors. Autothrottle mechanism is still on planning stage. But without that. First flights are done.It works and it feels great.- Jhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/46644.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/46643.jpg

November 3, 200322 yr > Can SolidWorks save the 3D files in 3DS formatSorry no...But. There is support for Pro/Endineering or Pro/Desktop 3D and 2D files. As for now, Pro/Desktop is free to download and free to use for inviduals. I will look after converting parts as Pro part-files. And perhaps as assembly too. I have to check these.2D drawings and 3D images are coming. At least.I don't know what formats are supported in TurboCAD. From here you can see SolidWorks support list: http://www.solidworks.com/pages/products/s...s.html?pid=3#6eFor me choosing solidworks was simple. It is one of the best 3D-Cad softwares available and because i could use license from work. There is no other reasonable choises left. There is still lot of work to do. So please. Be patient with drawings.- J
