December 23, 200322 yr I am new to this forum, although I have been watching for a long while. I am in the planning stages of making a Cessna 182 cockpit. My goal is to eventually use the Simkits instruments along with the simkits CCU to interface switches and other controls to flight sim.I was originally going to model my cockpit on the older Cessna panels with the plastic instrument panels that many people hate, and the older types of rocker switches and panel layout found on the actual aircraft that I fly when I get the chance. Well I don
December 25, 200322 yr Wish I could help you Mike. I don't have access to a C-182. However, have you thought about contacting a Cessna owners site and asking them. They might be honored that you are trying to build a C-182 sim.John JohnMy first SIM was a Link Trainer. My last was a T-6 IIAMD Ryzen 7 7800 X3D@ 5.1 GHz, 32 GB DDR5 RAM - 3 M2 Drives. 1 TB Boot, 2 TB Sim drive, 2 TB Add-on Drive, 6TB Backup data hard driveRTX 3080 10GB VRAM, Meta Quest 3 VR Headset
December 25, 200322 yr Pilots love talking about flying so perhaps you should call one of your many local flying clubs and talking to whoever is there. I'm sure if you explain your passion for aviation and your plans to build a C182 cockpit (to full scale) to "improve your flying skills for safety", they would be willing to allow you to sit in one for 30 minutes for taking measurements, pictures, etc. Your other option might be to contact some of the pilots who belong to that club and ask them if you can join them on a flight and/or simply take the measurements while they pre-flight the plane.
December 25, 200322 yr Hi Mike,i was in the same boat as you.Im doing a Cessna 177,not to the same extent as you. Here in new zealand their arnt any where i live.So i went through the Aircraft Register and found owners of the aircraftand wrote to them explaing what i was doing.I found one very helpful pilot.hes been measuring things for me as i request it.He even offered to take me up for a flight.Unfortunately he lives at the other end of the country. So thats one option.Good luck and its nice to see others doing GA aircraft.Les
