Plasma MiniME & Betainnovations

Featured Replies

Looks like betainnovations.com is gone, the site just says it's "closed" and there's just a download link for Keyboard Studio .exe, but everything else is gone.*** Does someone have a copy of the Plasma MiniME stuff? I sadly did not archive it myself, and it is not even stored in www.archive.org.. :/ Please share yours. ***It would be such a shame to have it go to waste, we have one around and it works so really well..Any idea what happened? Leo?//Tuomas

I have the minimee files on my HD, also developed a PCB layout for it.Johanhttp://mobil.flygsimulator.se

Tuomas,I communicated with Leo and he has decided to move on. Although, he never said so, I got the impression that he was losing money. His prices were lower than others and as a smaller operation; he wouldn

My first SIM was a Link Trainer. My last was a T-6 II
AMD Ryzen 7 7800 X3D@ 5.1 GHz, 32 GB DDR5 RAM - 3 M2 Drives. 1 TB Boot, 2 TB Sim drive, 2 TB Add-on Drive, 6TB Backup data hard drive

If he is moving to another field of the electronics world, why not sharing his old projects for FS with the community?Another free connection system, but plug&play, could surely help many in starting their sim.Otherwise i just hope he is looking for a way to improve the money gain and start again: when i decided to try his products he had already closed :(

As one of the earlier customer of Leo I can agree with John totally.I will really miss him, and there is a great need of people running companies related to flight simulation with Leo's mind.CheersRoger

Maybe this topic is better for the follow question:-----------------------------------------------------------I looked at the MJOY project (www.mindaugas.com) which seems very promising.I especially liked the autocalibration option, but I couldn't find anything on the jitter-filter. Does it have one? Like the Betainnovations Plasma MiniMe.I searched the MJOY docs but couldn't find any mention of such a filter.Roel.

Roel,You really must avoid autocalibrating joystick cards when building a cockpit. It's fine for a simple three axises joystick, but all other axises like Throttle, Props, fuel, Flaps would in that case be autocalibrated depending on the position you leave them the last time. Most the time at idle. I had such experiences, before I went with Betainnovations with hacked USB cards and I did not know that they were autocalibrating. Each time I boot my computer I had the throttles, props and Fuel lever with totally insane settings. Normal. The card calibrated while my six levers were cut off for fuel, feather for the props and idle for the throttle.I understood the mistake later when I discovered that the card was autocalibrating. It is a nice feature for axises being centered. Pitch, roll and Yaw. GreetingsRoger

I also use Leo's excellent and easy to use products. A great shame he has stopped supplying.Dave

That's a shame. The 0x64b module he made was the first input device I ever bought and it still operates fine. The Rotary decoder he designed and that I had made up was also a great item, that does just what is needed at a fraction of other alternatives.Leo, you'll be missed. You were a great benefit to the community.Richard

I'm a happy user of Leo's GammayRay and Cyclotron. The cards are great but his support was simply excellent. Only because his advice I was able to build my panel. Thanks Leo!

I think you will find that Leo bought in these various modules (the workmanship definitely looks factory - not home built!) If this is the case, then somewhere, there is a supplier? If Leo will pass on the name - or someone can locate them on the net, then a lot of people will be made very happy!!It is a shame that Leo left so abruptly without much of an explanation but I got the feeling that he is a mature student who has maybe moved area to a university to finish his education? Does anybody know? If you are reading this, why not contact us Leo?Here's hoping.TONY.

You can try here:[email protected] it is still active.Roger

>I think you will find that Leo bought in these various>modules (the workmanship definitely looks factory - not home>built!) If this is the case, then somewhere, there is aHe designed these himself, I'm pretty sure.Of course, the PCBs were made by a PCB house, maybe even assembled there. Such services do exist. They are very practical for engineers who design circuits, but there PCB making and soldering would be a waste of engineer's time and thus money.>supplier? If Leo will pass on the name - or someone can locate>them on the net, then a lot of people will be made very>happy!!.. so I doubt that there is such a supplier.Manuel

Roger,>You really must avoid autocalibrating joystick cards when>building a cockpit. Thanks for your reply. Hadn't tought of that problem myself. The MJOY project does have a feature however that eliminates this very problem.>I had such experiences, before I went with Betainnovations>with hacked USB cards and I did not know that they were>autocalibrating.>Roger In the MJOY, when the axis are held in their maximum deflection for 15 seconds the MJOY firmware stores this information to the EEPROM non-volotile memory, thus eliminating the problems you indicated.BTW (to reset it's memory, one has to replug the USB cable while pressing a button. Great idea.Roel.
