Hello all simmers,I am curious what's inside the little box of the Dornier 728 landing gear lever. So I just open it up. I see the inside looks similar to the graph that other simmers post up before. Not too many wires (compare to other panels). So I tried to connect it to FS via a keyboard encoder (as a "G" key). It works!! Although this is not for my 747 cockpit. The excitment does encourage me to continue.http://alkit.fotopic.net/c513097.htmlThere is a push button with the word "NWS" next to it. Anyone know what it means?Next, I will try to hook up the 747 landing gear lever. I don't think it will be as easy as the D728. Because I can see only the UPPER side (gear down) with sensor. Not like the other with sensors in both UP and DOWN sides.http://alkit.fotopic.net/p10181174.htmlIn addition, I just update my homepage: http://www.alkit.netThank you for your attention.Happy flyingAlkit

Thank you for your reply.Could you tell me how will it function??like...what may happen if pilot press it? or what it means when it lights up?Thank you!!!AlkitP.S. I am working on the 747 gear lever now

It probably lights up when the speed drops below something like 80 kts. Above that speed you'd probably want to steer with the rudder and differential brakes.

Thanks Philippe. I will take note of this. Thanks!Alkit

Hey I'm not sure of this at all, it's just my guess ;)However I think it would make sence, no ?Else it could be to enable/dissable nose wheel steering ? I think this normally goos automatic when the speed goos up, but maybe you can manually override this in this plane ?You should ask a real pilot ;)

Hi Alkit,You wrote in the description on this pagehttp://alkit.fotopic.net/p11714091.html"It is neither a CRT nor LCD monitor inside. I don't think there is anything miss inside as there is no room for any more components. Strange. There are only two light tubes and few light bulbs inside. Anyway, I don't need them."Look a bit more carefully, to me it DOES looks like there is a LCD in there. The front part has a 'glass' in it, and its not as transparent as a normal protective glass would be. Thats gotta be an LCD.In addition, there's circuitry around that glass, along with some flex-cables.And the two light tubes, thats the backlight.Manuel

Hi Manuel,Thank you for telling. I have remove the hardware of its back because I don't think I can find a way to drive the original boards inside.First, I think of buying this as a cosmetic frame and put a monitor at its back (easy). As you told the layer is already a LCD display, I wonder if I can find a way to drive it. Wondering..... heheheAlkitwww.alkit.nethttp://alkit.fotopic.net

I do think your say is correct. At least, make good sense.Unfortnately, Do 728 is not a flown aircraft (a big unfortune). It was still in test stage when Dornier close down. A Shanghai group bought the project and do nothing to it. And now looking for a new buyer.I am better to assign a way of how this button function. :PPI will try to light it up tonight and see what's showing on the button face.Alkitwww.alkit.nethttp://alkit.fotopic.net

I came to think last night that it was something else again.Since it is a switch .. there IS such thing in the Fokker50 as well.It is a switch that should indeed turn off NWS and this is for pushback. If you turn it on or off, whatever, the mechano gets disconnected from the wheel so that the pushback truck can move it any way they want.

Lol, can't believe you missed that :(

The NWS, seems like a function that we cannot make it work in FS9...........Any suggestion to assign this button to other related function??:(
