September 26, 200520 yr I am ready to start my throttle consol for a twin, 2 throttles,2 props, 2 mixture .plus a few switches. Now I need a interface for my axis etc. I have read many threads on many IO cards, but not to many about the "GP-wiz" from " groovy game gear ". The price looks ok if this card is what I need ?. Your comments will be appreciated .Thanks.

Better check that before ordering.//Tuomas
September 27, 200520 yr Author Tuomas,I will need at least 6 potentiometers for my setup. I dont understand your comment about ATARI?. Am I missing something about the Ge-Wiz cardz ?. " He gets it,she gets it,you get it, How come I dont get it?"
September 27, 200520 yr I think what he is saying, is that ATARI doesn't use a variable resistance device like a potentiometers. The micro switches could just move in one direction at the same speed. You change directions or turn the switch off to stop. This will not work with, say a throttle, where you need a constant input of a certain ohm or voltage value to represent RPMs.John JohnMy first SIM was a Link Trainer. My last was a T-6 IIAMD Ryzen 7 7800 X3D@ 5.1 GHz, 32 GB DDR5 RAM - 3 M2 Drives. 1 TB Boot, 2 TB Sim drive, 2 TB Add-on Drive, 6TB Backup data hard driveRTX 3080 10GB VRAM, Meta Quest 3 VR Headset
September 27, 200520 yr What people are trying to say here is that the GP-Wiz I/O cards are NOT suitable for analog (potentiometers) inputs. They all offer digital inputs which means - you can connect only buttons or arcade-style "joystick" controls (aka Atari style) which are basically levers which deliver positional input by pressing 4, 8 or more internal buttons.Inherently, these digital inputs do NOT provide continuously proportional inputs (like potentiometers do) so the GP-wiz cards are NOT suitable for analog joysticks or analog throttle controls. As you correctly pointed out, there are many good (analog i/o cards)options that are recommended in the forum. GP-wiz is not one of them ;-)
September 27, 200520 yr Author Thanks for all of your reply's. Now I have to decide which interface to get.
September 27, 200520 yr Question should be what you plan to realise with your project. Will it stay at building a TQ ? Will you only require analogue input ? Or will you want more later on ?If so, PHCC got something for ya. It's got up to (i think) 25 analogue inputs on the mother board. So no need even to get more at first. Only set back is that this PHCC is still a project under development but we're getting there.
September 27, 200520 yr Author Thanks for your reply.Due to computer restrictions I can only do a small sim-pit. I have the control surfaces taken care of. What I need now is five pots and few switches. I have hacked a key board so some of the switches are taken care of. Thanks. By the way what is PHCC?
September 27, 200520 yr PHCC = PIC Home Cockpit ControllerA GPL-ed interface Philippe and I are working with. Created by Manuel Bessler.Check here for more info:http://cockpit.varxec.net
September 27, 200520 yr Does phcc work via the joystick driver - I mean, can we use the FSUIPC axis calibration for stuff like reverse thrust etc?//Tuomas
September 28, 200520 yr several code libraries are available from Manuel. You can either write your own software (wich shouldn't be hard) or wait until someone finishes the soft you need (a lot of people working on that).I think Philippe was working on an interface between MSFS and PHCC using FSUIPC
September 29, 200520 yr Author I must have been born an IDIOT or may'b its my age (73 ). I have been trying to post pictures on where i'm at. I think I have been following the instructions, but keep getting a error message??
