Monitor choices for multiple views...

Featured Replies

Looking at setting up three monitors for views in a multi-pc setup.Undecided between a 24" widescreen centre with a 19" either side or three 20" widescreens (cheaper option and would give more space but less on the primary display).Any opinions, recommendations?

HelloHere my personal opinion.I would go for a 24" in the center and 2x 19" on the side. Also think of buying LCD-TV instead of Computer screens. You might end up with a cheaper solution. I've seen such a setup at a Flightsim-Convention and it looked really good. Resolution of 1024x768 is anyhow sufficient.Do you plan to connect your 3 screens to one computer? Maybe you should consider for better performance 2 or 3 computer together with "WideView". More at http://www.wideview.it

Tne decision really depends on whether you want a single or dual seat cockpit. I looked at a single center monitor, but decided to go with two 19" center, 2 19" diagonal and two for my instrument panel. This gave my cockpit the width for a pilot and co-pilot.I am using one system with really good performance.http://home.nc.rr.com/jrhavrillaI have two videos you can download.

Looking at a WideView setup, yes. I want a centre view so would choose a single centre rather than two for a generic single seater pit setup.

Checked out the new Matrox TripleHead2Go product that is due to be released in April? We decided to give it a try on our "retire the parhelia" -project, I want to avoid wideview if at all possible (due to the extra mainteinance and hardware needs/costs and such) - and this looks like it might work out nicely.//Tuomas

Well done, that is really impressive. Incredable to believe it is all running from one 1.8 GHz computer! Could you tell us what sort of frame rates you are getting running a setup like this?Regards Simonwww.desktopflying.co.uk (in need of severe update)Very slowely putting together a generic twin desktop unit.

28 to 30. There are compromises. I went the route of Wideview several years ago. The maintenance and upkeep of two or three systems made it an easy decision to try and build a one system FS.I run in 1600x800 mode on each of the three sets of dual monitors. I also do not use 3d clouds. However the graphics are more than acceptable. Others may want to go the Wideview and multiple systems. For me this works extremely well.

Woah! Nice work,I've just begun my new sim and I bought 3 21 inches CRT(30 bucks each!) to make my front view. I also use a 15" LCD for the gauges and a 15" CRT for the radio (sideway). You can see my project in a early state on the attach picture.I was looking to WIdeView, but if your setup is going so well, I think I'm gona try it.I have already 2 Matrox dual head but they have only 16Megs so it probably wont be enough.Cheers

You guys probably missed the Matrox TripleHead2Go on my earlier post, as you should be screaming around with your hands in the air by now.. check it out again. For the google-challenged, a picture is worth more than a thousand words:http://www.matrox.com/graphics/media/th2go.../fs2004_400.jpgOne PC. One graphics card, even SLI = LOTS of frames with full goodies turned on. It looks like it's the old workhorse Matrox Parhelia. But the performance and looks of your NVidia or ATI monster. Wake up :)//T

That seem's to be a great product, I just hope the price will be great to! And it's an add-in to the P650 card, so I will have to buy the card ans the add-in, since I already have 3 PC's and two Matrox dual head card, I think I'm going to spend a couple of bucks on Wideview first, and maybe switch to TripleHead later. Thanks for the info.

I looked at it but as I understand, it is not available yet and no mention of price. In my case the configuration won

>I looked at it but as I understand, it is not available yet>and no mention of price. Yea, it'll be out in april they say. Suggesting $299 in the FAQ. //T
