Gentlemen ,I have read a lot on stuttering in FS , but really I did not have a final conclusion yet .Apparently there is no a general remedy for that , each system has a particularity. I would like that someone appears here with a final setup, for OS and FS , so that the stuttering disappears completly . Today , I will do some trials in my system , I changed my videocard from ATI 9600 to ATI X800 and I got more stuttering I had before. My system has a P4/3GZ/1GBRam/X800 GTO(256MB).If someone has any tip please go ahead I would appreciate any comment. Thanks and regardsAlberto Kunzel

Make sure you have up to date drivers for BOTH your videocard (and remove the old ones completely before installing new ones) AND your *motherboard*.Motherboard chipset drivers are a big thing in this equation. Also you could try disabling / removing the sound card and of course updating its drivers -- buggy or misconfigured sound driver can also cause this kind of stuff.//Tuomas

Also increasing RAM to 2GB should help. If you can play with video cards, try an Nvidia. In general, the Nvidia drivers are more stable and streamlined than ATIs.I suppose that your HD subsystem is a modern SATA or PATA with plenty of buffer space (8MB?).But do not despair yet: I suggest you live with the current system until MSFS X is out. That version will certainly require a different HW configuration so spending $ now might not be such a good idea.It seems that MSFSX will finally make good use of GPUs, will enjoy double core CPUs performance gains and need Windows Vista/DIrectX 10 for top performance. Currently there is no GPU card which supports DX10 so spending $600 on a top-of-the-line card today could be a bad idea. You definitely want to wait and see where you should put your money depending on Vista's and MSFSX HW recommended specs.

Hi AlbertoThe following two things MAY help you if relevant. I emphasise "may" because of the variation in systems.1. Turn off Sound Acceleration in Direct X2. If you have more than one monitor turn of Hardware Acceleration on any additional video cards fitted....not on your main card just any extras...this may not apply to you.I found the above solved my stuttering problems....but I am running multiple monitors and my main card is an ATI 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro.These things are easy to try and won't cost anything to try.Good Luck

I will introduce one more for Overhead panel this week.My sound is onboard .I have checked that with a 15 fps adjusted in the display setting of FS I have less stuttering if I adjust that for 25 fps, and with 15 fps the FS run smooth , with only few stutter.Yesterday night I put almost all slide full in FS setting and I am very surprised with the good behavior of FS.I also updated the MOBO bios and the videocard driver.I will try your advice today in order to improve the system at all. Thanks and regardsAlberto Kunzel

>Also increasing RAM to 2GB should help. I don't think so, the memory footprint of FS9 is always much less then 512Mb. So 1Gb will be more then sufficient, you can even run Microsoft WORD and EXCEL and an InternetExplorer (what you will never do) and still remain within the 1Gb range. So installing 2Gb is just a waist of money when you only run FS9 and a few FS9 related programs.Regards,Nicowww.nicokaan.nl1704.png
