Any>idea as to which to use and there use?>>Also any detailed setup would be very appreciated.>>Great forum by the way.>>Regards>>AsidI have a number of GF modules. It all depends on how much you want to have dedicated switches, knobs, etc. for. My goal is to never touch the mouse or keyboard, which is pretty much impossible 8^) . But, I do try to work towards that end.As a bare minimum, I'd recommend one, or better, two T8 modules. These will let you control batteries, alternators, avionics, pitot heat, prop sync, etc.A good follow-up to T8(s) is an MCP module, so that you have full autopilot control. Next, I'd add an RP48 to get some more switches and knobs. I use the switches for Engine 1/2 start, radio control, etc. I use the knobs for Decision Altitude, VOR2 OBS, etc.I have another manufacturer's solution for radios/DME/GPS/etc. (i.e. Precision Flight Controls' avionics stack), so I don't have any GF166/etc. modules, but those functions could be served by more GoFlight hardware. The beauty is that you can incrementally add more and more button/knob-controlled functions.Good luck,Dave B.

Thanks for the help so far.Anyone else? There has to be someone???????????ThanksAsid

Hi If you are building a c172 sim I would go for the flap / trim goflight module instead of the MCP. You would have an unwanted undercarriage control for a 172 but hey you could fly a T182RG from time to time right! I`ve flown a few 172`s and haven`t had the pleasure of one with an autopilot yet - in NZ I`m happy just to have an ADF! You could look at the desktop aviator stuff too - I think he does a cessna plunger type throttle panel. Good luck with the project and let me just say that no amount of research is too much so good move posting here. It`s costly to change your mind once the time / money have been committed. I`m very slowly building a KA-350 panel using Opencockpits gear and MDF..CheersJames

Oops, I neglected to mention the flap/gear/trim module - you're absolutely right there. I tend to fly MSFS with the autopilot a lot so I use the MCP quite a bit, but the VFR pilot would prolly be better served to get the LGT module first. It's certainly nice to have dedicated and "almost real-world-shaped" controls for trim/gear/flaps, and the autopilot controls can be assigned to two or three other GF modules as needed (without buying the MCP module).cheers, Dave B.

Thanks for the advice guys.I posted here because its a great forum. Where else to get some sound advice but a great community..Does anyone have any ideas what functions to assign what modules?ThanksAsid
