September 3, 200223 yr I know many of us (including me) love the heavies, but there aren't many short flights around. I bought a book on the development of United Airlines recently "The Age of Flight". United, like many US airlines, began as a mail carrier. Here's the route they called "The Mainline":SFO-SAC-RNO-EKO(Elko)-SLC-RCS-CYS-OMA-LNK-DSM-IOW-ORD(MDW)-TOL-CLE-JFK. If you think you're seeing double, that is 14 hops coast-to-coast.I took the excellent Dash8 in a leg or 2 tonight. My simulation was that I was a UA heavy captain, however I was participating in an anniversary flight series that emulated this old route, using a Dash8. Great stuff, most liley even better in an old biplane :)Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
