September 13, 200223 yr Yesterday(9-11)I spent the day taking advantage of Spirit Airlines free fare promotion and did a roundtrip LAX-DTW in about 10 hrs. I was hoping to get some decent aerial shots to use in creating more realistic scenery sets for FS. Unfortunately most of the trip had lots of cloud cover, but some of the cloud formations in the southwest were really nice. Thought you might enjoy one of many shots I took yesterday.I've always wondered if there might be a video available that is not distorted by cabin window reflections, etc. which could be used by third party developers to create better overall scenery. Not that FS2002 isn't pretty good already but desert areas and such could use a good tweak.
September 13, 200223 yr Wow, cool shot. I wonder if 'photo-realistic' clouds would be possible in FS2k2. :DRyan-Flightpro08 :-coolVATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Controller 1 (C-1)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com]Taxiwaysigns.com Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 40.41 Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 11298
September 13, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi, Nice picture, unfortunately those exact type of clouds formation is impossible to have in Msfs without limitation and good frame rate. Just thinking about the frame rate how will be so much difficult to fly. What you will see with the new fsw clouds, it's will be the max capability of Msfs, I am aware of everything and all aspect ofthe Real world weather, including all world wide clouds fomation, precipitation, phenomena etc. vs Msfs weather engine , unfortunately the real result of my works degrade because of the engine still at 50% of the real result. Next version of Msfs should be much better for the weather capability and should be spectacular real clouds.Next weeks will I should post more new clouds preview since I am off all weeks. ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFshttp://fsw.simflight.com/fsw.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 13, 200223 yr Chris,At least you weren't one of the 4000 no-shows who got free tickets and didn't use them!Clouds looks nice when you are above them or below them, just not in them!!! Bill Sieffert
September 13, 200223 yr I was surprised by the turn-out. The delays were nill and Spirit was awesome about every aspect of the flight considering the circumstances. I'd fly them again anytime. I was booked to return on their 10pm flight but since there were empty seats going out I just asked and had no problem getting on the 12:20p flight. I had window seats and empty seats next to me on both trips and that made it a whole lotta fun. Thunderstorms over AZ, NM with their arrowhead tops looked great. Wish I could have gotten more ground shots but oh well. Very hazy and smokey that day also(forest fires?)so the pics I got were obscured.
September 13, 200223 yr Nice but to bad the ground textures in that shot are so blurry! Check your Video Drivers! and upgrade your memory that should help also.Cas
September 13, 200223 yr nah, it's the camera(the photographer)the glare and the haze conditions....puters fine! :-)
