Hi all,Does anyone know a good way to practice IFR in the 172 without having to set up the clouds all the time (and the associated drop in performance)? Fly! had an excellent system where you could basically "turn-off" the view out of the aircraft, so all you were left with was the panel and a black screen (which actually improved performance a small amount).I'd like to stick to the standard panels (as opposed to the much larger IFR panels) so that it is the same environment I'm used to when I "take off the foggles" on an approach. In fact, I'm actually a big fan of the virtual cockpit just because I find that it more faithfully recreates the feeling of flying in the real aircraft (at least the gauges are mostly where they are positioned in the real airplane).Thanks a bunch,John BumgarnerPPL/aspiring Instrument rating

Just turn the visibility down to minimums. Helps on framerates too.

Just select the C172 with the IFR panel. Look through your aircraft list under C172.

I just make an overcast layer down to 1000 feet base, and 1 mile of visibility, or whatever limits I want. Save that flight as IFR Practice, or whatever, after setting the limits and it should be good to go.

Well, I'm not sure about this, but I think you can right click on your outside view and select Close. this will problably take away you instrument panel too, but I think you may got to the view menu, point to instrument panel, and get your panel back.If that doesn't work, you can always fly at night, like you do on FS2002 checkridesLu
