February 10, 200323 yr Just two observations.Note that the mobo will support 400 Mhz DDR ram. But you are only getting PC2700 ram, which is 333 Mhz. So you are limiting your ability to take advantage of the highest FSB's supported by the motherboard. I see where the price has crept up quite a bit now on everything (well, the CPU is now 2200+, not 2000+, and you're going for a better video card, all well and good) -- but it you can afford it, or can skimp on other components somewhere, you'd be better served with PC3200 ram. With PC2700, you are going to be surpassing the limits of your RAM at FSB's higher than 166. With PC3200, you could go up to 200 Mhz on the FSB (theoretically, as far as the RAM is concerned, but there are lots of other limiting factors at that level -- I'm stuck in the low 190's, for example). And in two sticks of 256 mb, not one 512 mb (if that's what you were planning). These nForce2 mobos like the one you're proposing have dual memory processors, but to take advantage of them the memory needs to be in pairs. They still work with one stick, but only one processor gets used.Otherwise, the system looks like a winner. See if the vendor can assure you that the CPU is a Thoroughbred Revision B chip. That model may not come in any other form, but I'd want to be sure.
February 10, 200323 yr thanks basil i appreciate your feedbackwould you be on hotmail messenger by anychance?if so please add me at [email protected] take the SPAM outthx
February 11, 200323 yr May I make a suggestion? Save $100 and get the Epox 8RDA+ motherboard. It's still Nforce 2, but doesn't come with the other stuff you probably won't use (SATA/Firewire..) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
