February 5, 200323 yr Well, you asked.:-) Personally, I would hate to spend that much money and not come away with an nForce2 motherboard and a Radeon 9700 PRO. And more and better memory. If you put it together yourself, you could do a lot better for that much money. Of course, putting it together yourself is a daunting task if you've never done it, and you are paying for peace of mind when you let someone else do it. But I'd still shop around for deal that uses an nForce2 mobo.Edit: I guess I could be ignorant of just how much you are actually spending. I just noted that the cost is stated as $ AUD. What's the exchange rate to USD?-Basil
February 6, 200323 yr well thx for your reply1 aussie dollar can buy you a wopping 60 US cents!!!whoo hooo!
February 7, 200323 yr Not too bad Clayton, but I think you'd be better served to look for better parts than those listed :)Out of interest where was that system quoted from? Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
February 7, 200323 yr Ah thought so, was checking their prices, seemed about the same. You'll want something a little better than a GF4 MX to be honest. Why not spend a bit more and get a Ti4200? I'd also suggest 512MB of RAM if you're going to use XP. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
February 7, 200323 yr yes truebut you know now the Geforce FX cards r coming out i may need to get a mobo which will be suitable for it
February 7, 200323 yr Drop the KT400 board then. If you're going VIA you're asking for trouble. Look into getting the Asus A7N8X nForce2 board. It supports AGP 8x which the FX will probably need. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
February 8, 200323 yr The 2100+ from that site are the B Thorougbreds. From what I have been following, only a certain stepping is any good for overclocking, but I'm guessing a 'B' would be good for an extra 33Mhz on the FSB. February 10, 200323 yr Now you've got the right combination:512 Meg RAM, check!GF4-4400, check!nForce motherboard w 2200XP processor, check!the alternative would be:Asus P4PE motherboard with Intel P4 2.4Gig..either one will make you happy.. Bert
February 10, 200323 yr Yep, that sounds like a good system :)I personally have the P4 2.4Ghz @ P4PE combo. Thinking of selling though :-hah Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
