how to install headset to AC97 onboard soundcard?

Featured Replies

hi all,i have an Asus A7V8X mobo which came with the AC97 onboard sound, there are three holes at the back of the soundcard one pink, green and blue, in the green one i have plugged the main speaker cable and the other two are vacant, i want to use my headset to use for Vatsim on Roger Wilco, but when i go and try and test the mic, it comes very soft and muffled, does anyone have any solutions?thanks!

Do you have a mixer in your System Tray, default mixer is a speaker icon near the clock menu. If so, open the mixer controls and see if there is a Microphone boost checkbox. If the mixer is not located on you System Tray, then open Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Device, and see if there is a Microphone boost or other checkboxes for the Microphone.Generally, the plug are:Pink - Microphone InGreen - Line Out/Speaker OutBlue - Line In

I really don't know which is Microphone and which is headset. Your'll just have to plug them into the system and see what works. The only other option is to find the material that came with the headset or visit the store and see if it tells you.The Verbatim website was of no help.
