June 18, 200322 yr Hey all, I loaded the new 4-in-1 447 service pack Monday night and when I was checking out my video settings today after FS was running like crap, and I discovered that my AGP rate is down to 2x max. I tried to force 4x using RivaTuner but no luck so far. I'm running the a Visiontek GF3 ti200 w/ 43.45 drivers on an AMD 1.3 cpu, Asus A7V333 mobo and WinXP Pro. If anyone has any advice for how I can get my 4x back, please let me know. Also, I have already checked in the BIOS and it's still showing 4x there. I'm really puzzled by this. Thanks in advance for any help or advice. One last thing, I've already tried going back to some earlier 4-in-1 drivers and that didn't help out either. Am I going to have to re-format for this to work right again?ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889OPT121SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst. June 18, 200322 yr Using WinXP, enter Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and delete the NVIDIA 2000/NT/WINXP drivers, reboot the computer then reinstall the NVIDIA drivers. It may be that something got out of sync, when you updated the 4in1 drivers.NOTE: Since you indicate WinXP Pro, remember you have to be in an Administrator or Power User account to make changes. June 18, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, checking out the card and the chipset through Powerstrip, it shows that the card is AGP 4x capable, but the chipset is limiting it to 2x. I've tried to unload the latest 4-in-1 for an older version I was running, but that hasn't proved successful so far. Maybe I have done something wrong there. If anyone has experience in going back to older 4-in-1 drivers, could you please tell me step by step what you did, then maybe I can try the same thing and see if that works.ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst. June 19, 200322 yr Generally, the VIA 4-in-1 drivers have an uninstall function if you use the NORMAL install. You check the uninstall box on each function you want to uninstall.Since you are using WinXP, the latest drivers should be acceptable. I tried going to ASUS site, but it seemed to be off line. You might check with the MOBO Manual to see if it is using a combo of controller chips, such as ALi for frontside bus and VIA for backside bus or vice versa. If so you need to find the correct drivers. Bill Sieffert
June 19, 200322 yr I had the same problem.I solved it by reinstalling the 4-in-1 driver but choosing the QUICK INSTALL and not the normal install. The normal install seems to force the AGP in x2 mode for some reason I have not understood. Nevertheless, doing a quick install solved the problem, at least for me.
June 19, 200322 yr Author Edgard,Thanks for the info, I'll give the quick install a try next. I have tinkered w/ FS a bit and it's running acceptibly now, and from doing some reading, there are suggestions that there isn't too much of a performance boost between 2x and 4x on AGP cards, but I just hate when something doesn't work the way it should!!ChuckBStudent PP-ASELOn VATSIM: DAL889OPT121SWA1049UPS1034ZHU ARTCC Asst.
