June 26, 200322 yr Bobk,That may be all fine and dandy, and real Disney Channel-esque, but maybe sir, you ought to practice what you preach, eh? "There were no factions back then ralleying around hardware manufacturers or any other "for-profit" concern."I gotta ask, what in the world were you doing by starting this post if you weren't doing just that, 'rallying around hardware manufacturers.'
June 27, 200322 yr Well the GF5900 is here and installed. The image quality seems to be every bit as good as the ATI 9700 Pro. Frame rates are about the same or maybe a little better. Multi monitor(3 LCD Panels) is somewhat easier, as the NVIDIA software automatically resisizes any window that you drag to a different sized monitor. Also, windows don't get corrupted while they are being dragged between monitors.Regarding frame rates, I need to point out here that my version of FS2002 could probably use a good reinstall, as it's been loaded down with every cool add-on I've found in the last eight months or so. This includes traffic programs, terrain mesh, weather programs, and the usual aircraft assortment. So, my copy is somewhat "bloated" at the moment, but I probably won't reinstall until FS2004. Frame rates are locked at 25, and they hold pretty close to that.(FSAA and Ansio maxed.) Even with FS2002 kind of "bloated", the GeForce 5900 is doing a very credible job. It's running smooth at 8X, with no lock ups or other hassles. That's about all I know from the first hour of use. I'll let ya' know what else I find.Mark
June 27, 200322 yr Mark, Can I ask where you got it? I can't seem to find the 5900 anywhere except in new specialized computer builds. Didn't know it had actually been released yet.thanks much, chris conklin
