July 9, 200322 yr For those that are interested head on over to WWW.OMEGACORNER.COM and check out the front page news. Seems Nvidia has a problem with people that can get there almost weekly driver updates to work better than they can.Makes for some really good reading. I feel bad though for those that relied on these drivers due to there inherent stability and or better visual quality/features...Way to go Nvidiot....Real smooth.:( Bobby
July 9, 200322 yr Absolutely great news!Nvidia did the right thing. There hasn't been a single Omega driver for Nvidia cards that wasn't riddled with problems, all of them have had incompatibility issues with many NV cards on different systems and frankly running at "Omega" default settings like the extreme negative LOD values defeats the technology and REAL image quality of stock drivers without the wasted image processing and shimmering that results from using Omegas. Now there won't be any more crap Omega drivers to screw up systems as well as image quality, less anyone wants to argue about the "great benefits" of running Omega drivers you better do your homework first.Never has an Omega driver "worked better" than any stock NV driver!Omega Drivers=pure Kaka!
July 9, 200322 yr As I already know this is a losing battle and a waste of breath all I have to say is I posted for those that don't know what's going on. To argue any of your points is moot. Just some info...Yours is an opinion that obviously differs from his as well as others out there. But thats what makes this a great country..Have a great day Paul.BobbyP.S. I knew it wouldn't take long for your response :)
July 9, 200322 yr Sorry Bobby, but I think you set the tone...>Yours is an opinion that obviously differs from his as well as>others out there. But thats what makes this a great country..Yeah, tell that to the many souls that couldn't even boot into windows after an Omega install, then any time you would like to argue the merits of running Angels hysterically exaggerated LOD settings (can you say pre-FS98 graphics!)...:-lolLook, Omega >was< a great asset to ATI card owners in the past, but since the days of non adjustable variable driver settings for both ATI as well as Nvidia are long gone there simply is no need for the often misassembled Omega driver packs, just simply learn to making the adjustments that are already available to you.>Have a great day Paul.U2! :)>P.S. I knew it wouldn't take long for your response :)Yeah, you always seem to know what will get a hook into me! :)Later.
July 9, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Paul, How are you ?Be prepared for your new fs2004 signature tweak instant to have the Poof! :-lolThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
July 9, 200322 yr >Hi Paul,> How are you ?Hi Chris,Yes, FS2k4! Very Nice!I am in the middle of putting together another full color high-res photorealistic terrain scenery project and it looks like I am going to have to re-do a few hundred 3-D objects for compatibility reasons etc>Be prepared for your new fs2004 signature tweak instant to>have the Poof! :-lolYeah, :) Looks like many of the same tweaks still apply, the Mip slider etc...Have you figured out how to model the new clouds as efficiently as MS did yet?Look forward to your great work.Take care.

July 9, 200322 yr Thank you Chris,>TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 <----------- New one>>Controls the rate at which textures get downloaded to the>video hardware. July 9, 200322 yr Commercial Member Paul, By default mine was at 64mb AGP aperture it is correct? I will test now with 128 meg AGP aperture size and 256 AGP aperture size .ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis

July 9, 200322 yr hmm never ran their drivers. always used reference and added coolbits...guess I won't be able to get them now. :( I noticed he chnaged his video to ATI now. ;)
July 9, 200322 yr <>Kind of harsh, isn't it Paul? Not everybody is as adept at tweaking their drivers as you, so there were some who liked the Omega's. I had little use for them, except when I was feeling lazy and didn't want to do the patch script thing on a new driver. My perspective of Bobby's post was that nVidia was slamming a guy who was trying to help folks out with their drivers. nVidia's action doesn't make much sense to me either... why shut a guy down who was only trying to make folks driver life easier?Sorry, but I've not seen the stability problems you mentioned. From what I've seen, the Omega's didn't cause alot of grief for folks. I absolutely agree with your point about the exaggerated LOD settings... the first thing I brought back to "real Life" settings. They weren't perfect drivers, but it's funny how nVidia has put the guy out. He wasn't doing them any harm (they claimed he was reverse engineering their stuff... yeah, right!!!).nVidia's recent offerings and actions make me glad I changed over to a 9700 Pro recently. Superior product!!Cheers,
July 9, 200322 yr Greg --Well said. I never used the Omega drivers myself, but I know alot of people appreciated the work that was put into them. I think nVidia was slinky, cowardly, and underhanded in taking care of this percieved 'problem', which to me indicates that there is something fundamentally wrong with the way that the company is being run. Makes me wish I had bought an ATI back in the day when I got my Ti4600....of course there were no superior ATI cards in that day.
July 9, 200322 yr Hi Fred,I got a great deal on my 9700. Did some horse trading with a friend who found himself with an extra after buying a new Dell. I got a great deal. I really like the card... far better than my 4600. It installed easily, and no problems here with the Cat 3.5's. I strongly recommend it. It'll be a while before I go back to nVidia.Cheers,
