July 11, 200322 yr Right now my current system is:Amd 2400XP+Asus A7N8x mobo1-gig ddr400 pc3200 ramAti 9700promoney not being an issue, I am considering one of the two optionsgetting a new Amd processor (Barton?)switching back to Intel and getting an Asus P4C800-deluxe mobo with an Intel P4 3.0Cwill the intel give me a significant improvement over my existing system?Decisions decisions :-)thx Floyd
July 11, 200322 yr You say you have a 2.4XP+... You mean a 2400+? Then yes you will have a big performance upgrade with the 3.0 ghz P4 :7
July 11, 200322 yr I would stick with AMD, get an XP3000 :9 You really can't go wrong with an XP3000 or an 3.06 HT P4. It comes down to personal choice in my mind..do you like AMD or Intel better ;-)
July 11, 200322 yr Based on latest tests (tomshardware or simhq sites) P4 3.00 (with HT) offers the best performance currently available - plus according to simhq P4 3.0 clearly beats XP3200 in the flight simulation. It used to be that AMD CPUs were so much less expensive but with XP3200 being actually more expensive than the P4 3.0 and offering less performance - the choice should be a no brainer.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
July 12, 200322 yr I would advise Intel also. Money being no issue, go for the new 3.2C CPU. I'd take an Abit IC7-G over a P4C800 personally ;) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
