August 5, 200322 yr My origonal idea was to piece together something like this:Asus - P4T533-C mother boardPentium 4 2.8 ghz 512k 533 fsbPC1066 Samsung RDRam, 2-512 sticksOne of those fancy brushed aluminum cases with the little windowMaxtor 80 gig 7200 HDGeForce 4 Ti 4600I called around town and chatted with a local computer guy and he started trying to steer me to aPC Chips mobo (he claims it is just as fast as anything out there)AMD 3000 XP with 1024 cache 400 fsb (claims that it would beat just about any P4 out there and that Intel has nothing even close to it in terms of cache, whatever that means)Crucial DDR2300 ram, 1 gig worth. Now, I've never heard of a PC Chips brand motherboard. My current system is an Athlon 1.33 ghz set up and I have used other AMD products without much problem, aside from an occasional heat problem. Can anyone recommend a good motherboard/cpu combo? I've never owned a Pentium system but I'm not adverse to an AMD setup either, if I know it will be stable.I'm looking for most bang for the buck here.Any advice?
