  1. GT: Capn Dondo longtime flight simmer, working my way through missions and challenges. Feel free to add me as friend, I'll do the same.
  2. Kind of ironic, I'm reading about Flight on an iPad.....<X-filestheme.mp3> :Nerd:
  3. Count me in as a Forza fan......yes, the. Turn 10 developers are car nuts IMO . If the Flight things even gets 50% of the Forza thing, it could really go far.
  4. Gamer tag: Cap'n DondoForza 4, NASCAR the game 2011, Race Pro and now Flight.
  5. Ah, that worked, thanks!
  6. I can't seem to get Games for Windows installed, much less Flight. It downloads the file, tried to install then tells me it failed. All the support thing tells me is try again.Any idea's.Pc is plenty fast enough, drivers etc updated, win 7 64x,Pieter
  7. Coolp, thanks! I guess that was the problem, or the issue, or the setting. The computer was doing exactly as it was told! Thanks for all the replies from everyone. This is a great place to get help.Dondo
  8. Hello everyone. I guess the title of this thread relly says it all. I have the engine and cockpit sounds pumping though the 5.1 surround speakers and ATC voices using my USB headset. When ATC talks to anyone (not just me), the engine and cockpit noises fade down quite low and then resume normal volume about 1 minute after the ATC transmission is finished. Some of you may think that this would be a pretty cool feature. I guess I don't mind it too much, although it does take me "out of the game" a little when it happens. It happens when I am using the default ATC. When using voxatc, everything works the way it is supposed too. I have dug around a little and can't find a setting for this "feature bug". Is there something in the cfg file that controls this?ThanksDondo
  9. I am trying to work on south central Kansas. From about the Oklahoma border up to Salina. They would be globe tiles:185,157186,157187,157187,156186,156Although, given the opportunity, I would render all of Kansas if possible. Once upon a time, I did just that. However those CD's are long gone.If FTP is possible, that would be great, otherwise I would send disks and/or shipping postage to whomever has that data.Dondo
  10. I installed TS2.1 and started my new project, however the data that TS is trying to download does not seem to be available. I am trying to regenerate some of the scenery in Kansas and the data at wingswithwires does not seem to be hosted anymore. Does anyone have any data for Kansas they would be willing to share? Is that data hosted somewhere else that I can point TS?Dondo
  11. Thanks guys. Those pics inspired me enough to reinstal and apply the ROTW dvd. After a little bit of tweaking, I managed to get it working on my win7 machine. I added in some of my custom scenery and remembered one of the reasons that I moved on. About every 5 mind, flyII will crash out with a texture load problem. I am thinking that maybe if I install terramodels and terrascene, maybe I might figure out the problem. Is the TS data still online for download?
  12. I have been kicking around the idea of reinstalling Fly!II for quite awhile now. I remember back in the day how many hours I spent creating scenery (Terrascene/Terramodels), and creating accurate taxiways for almost every airport in Kansas. Man, those were the days. I spent way more time messing around in Fly!II then I did flying it. I also remember the patching process, which was lengthy as well as the max screen res of 1024x768. Not sure how that is going to look on a 24" monitor, but I'm willing to try. Help get me back in the mood, lets post some screen shots from Fly!II. Cockpits, scenery, aircraft, anything. I think my favorite plane to fly was the Malibu. I currently hold the position of Hutchinson Airport Manager and we have one of the busiest Piper Malibu/Meridian/Matrix service centers in the United States. Everyday they run up those planes less than 500 from from my office door and it takes me back to my Fly!II days.Need some pictures.. :-)Have a good weekend everyone.Dondo
  13. I searched for this answer and ended up with about 1000+ posts. HA!Can anyone tell me if the Eaglesoft Beechjet 400a for FS9 will work in FSX? I forgot that I purchased that sucker a couple of years ago. I remember that I bought it because I wanted something that could take me around the FS world and I cut my business jet "teeth" on the Flight Unlimited Beechjet. I loved that thing in FU2/3 and I really enjoyed the 400a for FS9. I see that it is available for FSX so that leads me to believe that I will most likely have to repurchase it for FSX, but I thought I'd ask here first. Thanks!Dondo

Where did you get this plane? I've been looking for something better than the default X-Plane 172.Nice video btw...didn't know you could do that kind of stuff in a 172 :)Dondo
  15. right clicked the shortcut and checked the "Run in XP SP3" mode...all is good. Spent about 20 mins editing KHUT, have a pretty decent start but the more I start editing, the more I what to change!Dondo
  16. Any issues with Win7 and ADE? I'm going to try reinstalling ADE (I finally got the SDK's all sorted out) and I ran the ADE_Checker and fixed all the issues with that. When I dbl click the ADE shortcut, I get 'Access Denied', then a little blank window opens up. I'm running a Dell i7 945, 8 gig ram, Win7 64 RC1. Guess I can try the compatibility modes.Dondo
  17. sigh...well, here I was thinking that I could get ADE up and running in no time. These are the events, as they happened....<sigh>Installed FS SDK off the Deluxe version of the FSX diskDownloaded ADE and installed.Tried to apply ADE update, realized that I didn't have tooTried to run it, nothing.Started checking to make sure I had .NET installed, turns out I didn't.Downloaded and installed .NET 3.5Tried to run ADE, nothing.Figured out .NET 3.5 is an update to 2.0, uninstalled .NET, installed .NET 2.0, updated to 3.5Tried ADE, nothing.Read instructions again, realized I needed the SDK for SP2 FSX.Uninstalled SDK from FSX diskDownloaded SP2 SDK, installed.Tried ADE, nothing.Looked again, seems SP2 SDK is an update to the disk version SDKUninstalled SP2 SDK, reinstalled disk SDK.Tried to install SP2 SDK, wouldn't work, said I needed to update to SP1, then SP2.Got tired, went to bed.Dang.....all I wanted were some tree's and some fences.
  18. Update -- Seems with a little bit of research, Flight1 seems to have everything I want (and more).AFX Airport Facilitator X and Instant Scenery.Guess those pretty much cover everything I'd want to do. Any opinions on ease of use and how stable they are with FSX?
  19. I read though the pinned "Scenery Design" thread at the top of the forum and noticed that several of the links to various scenery programs were dead or for FS9. I'm not a scenery designer (and honestly, don't really want to be as I would rather fly FSX than fix it), however, there are some things I would like to adjust and/or change at my home airport. In real life, I am the airport manager for KHUT. In my "pretend simulated" life, I am a busy FBO manager with multiple flights in and out of KHUT (using FSEconomy). FSX's rendering of KHUT isn't awful, but it is in need of some tweaking. Taxiway's and signs, default buildings/hangars and tree's all need to be removed or adjusted. What would be my best bet for a program/programs that would allow me to do this? In FS9, I used to have a program called Easy Scenery Creator, or something like that? I could hit a key combo while in FS9 and place objects from a library that was updated every few months. Is that program still around? Thanks for any help. And, if I can get KHUT setup correctly, I'd love to share it with anyone that would want it. If you really fly into the airport (real life), I'll buy you lunch at the Airport Steakhouse. :( Dondo
  20. I guess I forgot that I had the paid version of FSUIPC. Forgot all about it. I spend so much time tweaking, setting up, testing, uninstalling, reinstalling, I forget what capabilities I already have! Thanks for the reminder!Dondo
  21. If the plane uses a yoke, I like to use my Satiek Pro Yoke with throttle and switch panel. If the plane has a stick I use my MS FFBII. I have all of the buttons and switches assigned in FSX to use my yoke. When I unplug the yoke and plug in the joystick, do I lose all those settings? When I plug the yoke back in, will all my yoke buttons be switched back to default? If I use the Satiek software, can I assign the yoke buttons/switches to the FSX keyboard commands, and it will remember as long as I load that profile before I start FSX? Will the same work with the FFB2 setup program? I've always just used the controller setup in FSX. I would prefer that as I'm from the "olden" days when I shut off everything that wasn't absolutely necessary when running flight sim. I'm trying to keep my installed software to a minimum on Win 7 RC1 since I will reinstalling once I get the RTM.How do you all use multiple controllers?Dondo
  22. What does it take to get FU2/3 running under Win7? I've messed around with Fly!II and wasn't successful. Would love to get my all time favorite sim running again. Takes me back to the old Pierglass Aviation Days......ahhh....now THAT was flight simming....Dondo
  23. I had this problem before, but I don't remember what I did to fix it. The payware Flying Club Cessna 152, Vista 64, FSX w/SP2.Anyone else have a fix? When I choose "DX10 Preview", I lose the plane textures for the 152. So, I just run it without DX10.I thought about joining the Just Flight forums, but I'm already a member of about a dozen different forums. :)Thanks.Dondo
  24. LoL.....tell ya what, I just started perusing though this forum and it brought back all my fond memories of my flight simming heydays...., FS2002, still playing all the Janes Combat sims, European Air War, CFS2....man oh man...those were the sim'n days...Fly!/FlyII/Terrascene/Terramodel. Seems like yesterday I had my super fast 430mhz PC with 128 meg of ram, downloading and rendering all the Terrascene stuff....waking up early in the morning, firing up FlyII and the joy of looking out the window in the virtual world and seeing all the roads/rivers/cities where they were supposed to be....kind of brings a tear my my eye. The Fly! series (and FU) were my catalyst to get my pilots license and to pursue a career in aviation. I always had an interest in flying, and Fly! taught me that I could figure out what all those buttons and gauges do! Gave me the confidence to go after my PPL. Anyway, started looking though this forum again (I used to post here and the Flight Unlimited board constantly) and searched for some FlyII screen caps. Now I have to reinstall it just for nostalgia. What a great sim. I really wish I had something to offer the Fly! Legacy group.Take care everyone.
  25. Well, it is indeed a Dell I ordered, so I just have to trust that they will have the correct RAM installed. This is the first computer I have ever "ordered", so kind of a new deal for me. I've had a couple of PC's built buy local shops and have even built a couple of my own. Just wanted something with a warrenty, that I knew had a good chance of working right out of the box and something that I simply could just connect up, install FSX, and not worry about much else.....hopefully, that is what I got."fingers crossed" :)Dondo
