August 30, 200322 yr I'm thinking about upgrading my PC in the near future, so I've been looking at new processors. I've heard that FS2004 makes use of hyperthreading if available, but would it make a noticeable difference? The reason I'm asking is that if it's not a noticeable difference, then I will probably go with an Athlon XP, as the prices are much lower (at least at the UK based online suppliers I've looked at :-)). Apart from gaming, the PC will be used for things like digital photo work in Photoshop Elements 2, maybe some basic video editing, nothing too taxing ;-).Thanks,Dave.
August 30, 200322 yr No, contrary to some early press reports months ago - HT is irrelevant for FS2004. You may even have to turn it off or you will see a slower performance.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
September 1, 200322 yr Like Michael said, it doesn't make any difference whatsoever in FS2004. Other programs may benefit from having it however. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
September 1, 200322 yr Hyperthreading can be used only if the Program knows how to use it... and if it doesn't know how then i's gonna get messed up... so it looks like FS2004 doesn't support HT so it's NO ..but as John said it could help other programs.... it's very god with multimedia... most P4's are.... ;)
